Guest scsi Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Anyone have some thoughts on this? Considering the cost at 600 CAD for 10 These are really expensive cigars. I know Rob and Ken gave this a great review Lawrence Davis from Sautter was positively gushing I had been thinking of picking up a box of these and just putting them away. Would these cigars age well?

Would these cigars age well? Very good and complex to my taste but I don't think they are a "must buy" in the main. You can get as much utility (or near as much) from great examples of CORO and Siglo VI for a lot less coin. 3

After a dinner in NYC last September, a group of us retired to Club Macanudo and I had both the Robusto Supremo and a Siglo VI from 2014 one after the other. The Supremo is a big fat stick, and while it did show a lot of promise, the Siglo VI was far, far more approachable and balanced at this early point. I'd get two cabs of Siglo VI, one for now and one to lay down, and not regret it in the least. 1
JohnS Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 El Pres' reply demonstrates exactly why so many here admire him. Despite being in the industry, you can rely on a straight and modest answer. I concur with El Pres and Papadisco, in fact I have stored away a 10 box of Siglo VI and I have another for smoking/enjoyment. One thing I'd like to add to this discussion is that although the CRS is a strong smoke, it certainly has potential to age well. I have a box resting long-term because I figured that they could develop well in 3-5 years. However, one box is enough for me, I'm happy to have some Siglo VI and CORO'S set aside in the meantime. 2
Guest scsi Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 aha..... John, you did get one why did you pull the trigger?
JohnS Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Because I've smoked 1 or 2 and they were quite good. The last one I smoked with my brother-in-law, Cuzz on Father's day and we both agreed that it was a good cigar. I also reflected on the fact that when the 1966LE came out in 2011, it had mixed reviews while it was around. Now that it's not around, it's unavailability is lamented. I don't want to be in the same situation with the CRS. So, for me, I consider it an investment. 2
Guest scsi Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Exactly! As Richard Quest of CNN would say This may be an item that appreciates over time And that is the reason for purchasing it He'd have spelled it better
Smallclub Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 This may be an item that appreciates over time And that is the reason for purchasing it ... just like (almost) all habanos…
Puros Y Vino Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I'll be the lone dissenting voice; for now. Smoked 3 of these over the summer. None of them impressed me. Tried them from different boxes as well. It is no 1966, that's for sure. That cigar was great ROTT and only gets better. 3

The first box I bought the cigars were definitely strong. Second box I picked up recently wasn't bad....this cigar definitely has good potential. Decided to buy two boxes as I regret not getting any 1966s when they were available 1
PapaDisco Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 You guys may be right about the CRS 10 years on. It was tough for me to tell. I'm not often bowled over by a strong cigar, but the CRS got the better of me! There was just so damn much going on with that smoke that it came off harsh and wildly out of balance; but then with so much tobacco that could actually be a recipe for a marvelously rich, complex smoke when it gets enough age on it. Some might call it 'mongrel,' but to me this cigar was a wild pack of hyenas chasing a bunch of dingos nipping at the heels of a mongrel.
Lotusguy Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Certainly not a lone voice while i only had the one from the LE 2014 sampler. It goes down as my worst Smoke of the year(2014) I've had. The CRS and Bondi have a lot in common! Torreon >>>>>>> CSR (somewhat similar price range and release date)I would buy about a million cigars first before I'd buy another CSR.
JohnS Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 I respect all the views stated here. I'm actually more pleased that I have a box of Partagas Seleccion Privada LE set aside. I didn't commit to a box of Bolivar Super Coronas. If there's two LE boxes I'd go for right now, they'd be the Partagas Seleccion Privada and the Ramon Allones Club Allones.
sikfrayme Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 I was lucky to have split a box of the CSRs and have yet to give one a try. Have them in my queue of what I am going to smoke next. Looking forward to them. Always been a huge fan of Siglo VI, already knocked half a cab of 2010 Siglo VI. Have two 25 Cabs put in the back of my humidor not be disturbed till 2018. My humidor is starting to get full!! Good thing I am not a big wino, wine fridge is going to be converted to long term storage. And I am sure eventually, I will have to reach out to Aristocrat for a larger Cabinet.
RijkdeGooier Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Imo, as with all Cohiba's will have to wait and see in 15 years time ? Must say the Reserva collecion 2003 is smoking excellent these days. ???
DoubleDD Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 I bought a box of the CRS. I'm not a big fan after smoking two. Maybe I have the palate of a goat but I'm not impressed. Then again, I'm not a big Cohiba fan, although ELs tend not to be anything like normal production. Try one to decide.
knickerbocker Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 picked up 2 boxes in 2014, and it was the best cigar i had all year. however, the size borders on obnoxious and i just dont reach for it because of it.
RickHendeson Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Never smoked one but from one perspective this thread shows strains of the perennially disappointing "Cuban Lottery" written all over it
kyee Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 I had my doubts about this one, but went ahead and picked up a box earlier this year. Finally got around to smoking one last week, and while the ring gauge is definitely larger than I'd like, I thought it was a pretty damn good smoke.
