monkey66 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Bad design for my taste. Also as mentioned will never be consistent as a dual blade design. 2
peanutpete Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 i think it is a little ugly and no justification on the price
TheLiquidGator Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Bad design for my taste. Also as mentioned will never be consistent as a dual blade design. I think that its a cool idea, but not the best for cutting a cigar. With the blade only penetrating from one side, the other side of the cigar tends to get crushed, buggering up the cap/wrapper.
CanuckSARTech Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Meh. Could care less about it. It does look handsome, nice metal and wood finish. But, I'm all about twin-bladed guillotine cutters. And, maybe it's just me... But I liked the stainless steel cigar stand better, mostly for the rustic leather pouch for that item. Still, even $48 for that is too much. Hope they do well and are able to start production though. It'd be neat to see what else they come up with.
finecigar Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Scroll down. Reasonable and compact. https://www.etsy.com/listing/218335721/saladini-pocket-cigar-cutter-olive-wood?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_all_products-mid&utm_custom1=4d6a1591-d326-b4c9-2b5f-00004c7dec31&gclid=CPuTrsOn5sgCFQiraQodtv8GCA Thanks for sharing! Adding it on my soon to purchase accessory list- love the look of that olive wood.
RijkdeGooier Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 A lot of torque goes into single blade cut like that. Never ends well. Get scissors. Marc, the trick is to let the cigar do the work, slowly revolving the cigar against the knife. Except for Piramides I cut all my cigars with a knife and have excellent results.
Coloniales Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Pass, looks nice but, no. In Cuba, I use my thumbnail, for everything but Piramides and the like. Outside of Cuba, Xikar everytime. Keith.
TypicalSituation Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 If I'm not mistaken, d2 will rust. Great looking knife but the usefulness of it aside from a cutter nil, especially considering there is no locking mechanism for the blade. And I would guess with that big flipper Tang you will stab or cut yourself on accident more than once. Just my 2 cents.
leftimatic Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 $550 beans don't make sense to me. That's two and a half boxes of my favorite cigars. Besides I already got a French cigar cutter it's an Opinel #8. Bought it 15 years ago for $11.95. Stays sharp as a hot damn and only takes about two seconds with a steel when it isn't. Just slice the cap and go. It can be a ***** on the bigger rings 50 and up, which I hardly ever smoke anyway. For those I just wait till someone visits with a punch. 1
fundadores Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 I got to try one in Germany and cut my thumb nicely, just a word of caution on these.?
