They were literally stickering them with bar codes when I walked into the LCDH at Melia Habana. I believe i bought their first box. They are now for sale in Cuba exclusively, as far as I can tell.

Ole Pissflaps is OUR JohninCleveland.

Same guy

I like PissFlaps69 better

There's a funny story behind that. I had no idea what Reddit was and my friend was creating an account for me. I didn't realize what it actually was, so when he asked me what I wanted my name to be I figured I'd use the most vulgar name that came to mind. We'd been drinking...

It still makes me laugh.

John, hope you enjoyed your trip bud!

And thanks for uploading the pics. Looks mighty appealing! I may have to modify my shopping list for November! Always said that Diplomaticos needed a robusto.

My trip was incredible. We saw the Industriales play Matanzas in a day baseball game, we visited the Revolution Museum, took a day trip to Hemingway's farm and Veradero, went in at least 4 LCDH's (best was either Club Habana or Hotel Nacional), snagged a box of Double Edmundos and a box of the new Diplomaticos (along with a 3 pack of the new Hoyo de San Juan's), drank more mojitos than in my previous 31 years on earth, and had a generally wonderful time.

It's really difficult to explain the feeling of actually setting foot in Cuba. It's like a different world. When our plane came in at 10 pm and you could see this expansive island with almost no light pollution whatsoever, my wife and I looked over at eachother like "what the hell did we get ourselves into?" I can't recommend it enough though, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Thank you for all your great information John, and very happy you enjoyed the island - love your comments on Mojitos and light pollution.

Can't wait myself to get back ... again :-)

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely be looking for these when I'm in Havana next month. I was hoping these would be closer in price to the Infantes though.

The way they price Regionals these days $86 a box isn't a price anyone should be complaining about!

Preach!

50% price increase. Not expensive comparatively, but this is what HSA and any company, retailer, vendor does. Slowly raise prices because people will just say "it's not so bad" forever...lol

I don't mind taking it up the a$$, just so long as its slid in an inch at a time over 6 months...

Preach!

Given that they are one of the coveted brands, I expect them to go for $500 in the secondary market in no time...

Not bad when you think about it. $86 CUC for a 10-box works out for $215 CUC for a 25, basically. Not bad at all, when you consider format, brand loyalty, Cuba RE, etc., etc.

Frankly, I'm just happy they're trying a Dip robusto out, and adding more to the product line.

And it all depends on the person, as to valuation or not.

A 50% hike in 2 years I think is more than opportunist.

I agree that it depends on the person but the numbers themselves tell that HSA does not care what real smokers think, just about coins.

Ok, this is business but they know many boxes will be bought by those who don't smoke and just want a souvenir from the island so the price it's not a big variable in the equation.

I respectfully disagree. Perhaps it's a bit opportunistic, but I don't believe your average schlubby tourist who knows jack **** about cigars is racing to buy Diplomaticos exclusive Cuban regional release, they're too busy smoking a $20 Cohiba that they don't know enough to begin to appreciate.

I spent, I don't know, $400 on cigars I smoked and brought back (would've been more without fear of confiscation). Had I purchased comparable Dominican versions in and B&M store in the states for comparable quality marcas, I'd have spent maybe $600. I feel like, on balance, the supreme quality of the product I received far outweighs the cost. If you feel the price of $86 is exorbinant, you're entitled, just don't buy the suckers. At $8.60 a pop, they cost about what I'd pay for a mid-range stick down the street. To each their own my friend, to each their own.

Forget they are $8.6. I am talking about the 50% increase in 2 years.

If they were $1 and now $2 would be opportunistic the same way.

By the way, if I go to the island and find them I will bring at least 5 boxes if I feel they smoke well. Others around here will bring many more. They are "cheap" when we compare them to the prices we are used to but not when we compare them to Infantes.

As the Festival is happening now I am sure all the boxes in Havana are sold out.

If you find them in Varadero buy them at the same moment.

I saw a picture of box number 4400 or something like that so I guess they will not last long.

I know. once I get settled into the hotel, eat something then take a little trip on the bus and press my luck. If there isn't any I will settle for something else im sure lol. Unlimited amounts of choices.
