I was asked by a good mate of mine yesterday on my opinion of the Ramon Allones Extra 2011 LE

I said I enjoyed them while appreciating that many people I know and respect.... detest them.

Well...he detests them. I did point out that he hadn't had one for two years but apparently that would make no difference. He is in the camp of the "they only sold because of the fancy white band" brigade. I pointed out I don't smoke bands but enjoy what it delivers (full bodied fruity ruthlessness).

I really don't think I have seen a more divisive cigar that the Ramon Allones Extra 2011 LE.

Are you a lover or a hater?

Was always hit and miss. A few good ones..a few horrible ones never enough to really want to go deep on them. Great retro bands and vitola but the blend just didn't do it for me. I've kept one box to

I love this cigar and see tons of aging potential... I see a lot of similarities with the RACF when they were released. People hated them, you were able to purchase them for 239.00 4 years after they

You are absolutely correct. I am not a fan of NC's or DC's, but many here are. This cigar definitely has the bitter taste, and lack of finesse and purity of a 100% cuban cigar...

They taste like a Padron to me from the samples I have had out of my box thus far. Hoping with more age they mellow out and become more fruity and more representative of the Marca. We will see. In fact I will take one out of my coolidors today and dry box it for a week or so.

Have not smoked one in over 3 years. To me it is a NC that someone asks me to smoke saying it is "cubanesque". Those are never good cigars for my palette.

I'm right there with you, Mike. Only burned a handful, with a couple held in reserve, but think you're dead-on with that description.

For me, the RA Extra was a fantastic cigar. Medium to full bodied, sweet espresso with a touch of leather. Thinking about it makes me want to call down the box from my locker. hungry.gif

Had a few back in '12 and they weren't very impressive to me. I remember smoking them but it was so unremarkable I can't even recall the flavors.

Was really hoping otherwise. I like RA, great size, cool throwback band. Just chalked it up to another EL floperoo. Don't have a lot of patience for the ELs or REs. After 15 years of these I know enough to recognize the bad ones and move on.

I dig em

They are more NC than CC IMO, perhaps a little more refined than youre average high end NC but still good regardless

i have had 3 or 4 from the same box and i really enjoyed them and they have transistioned in flavors a bit already. these are gonna age great by the way. note...mine have the really dark oily wrappers, maybe that changes the depth of flavors from other more light wrappers for this cigar.

Had one gifted to me earlier this year. Only one I've ever had. Probably my favorite cigar I've smoked this year. I immediately starting looking for more, but no Bueno.

Had one a year or two ago, was nice. Bought a box. Gifted one from Foxy about 8 months ago and we both thought it was quite terrible. Not terrible enough to pitch, but just not a good cigar by any means.

I have a box in my OLH that i'm going to crack and share around at Havanthon. See what everyone thinks of it.

Yes do like them bought a box of them in Spain 3 years ago and they were very good wish I still had some.

I had a couple of 5 packs and smoked over 18 months but finished them awhile ago.

Boring maduro flavours but tasty enough. Size and the old school band were both cool.

Overall its about the flavour though so I voted "did not like"

Have smoked 4 or 5 and love them, they are not an everyday cigar, but a great after steak dinner cigar, love it with Spanish brandy!

Oh YES!!

They pair beautifully with a healthy serving of Torres 20!

My gawd, I miss them both!

I did not enjoy them at all when I got my box 6 months after realese, I gave it some time(2 years) to rest and still a no go for me. I smoked one 6 monthe ago and found them to be much, much better and more to my liking and smoked one 3 months ago and really liked it .

I think we have a winner here and will be looking foward to the next one I lite up

Interesting that the poll results are overwhelmingly 'for' at this point, but the comments not so much...

I did not vote. I have 3 in my humidor but I have not sparked one up yet. I do dig the band.

Hated most of them when they came out. Probably 1 good one out of 10. Hopefully the single I have is a good one.
