LordAnubis Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 So people ask me what I travel with. Now I don't have much stuff to begin with. Not a man of material belongings. This is what gets me around the world anywhere for as long as I need. Anywhere from 3 days to 3 years, this is all I need. And it all is taken as carry on luggage. I hate checking luggage in. Never do it. Firstly the main bag. It's a Tom Bihn Aeronaut 45. They make brilliant bags! Quality is fantastic, the packability is great as well. Pretty much a duffel bag with backpack straps and should straps. Carry it how you wish. This is my carry on luggage. So here's what's in it. Side pocket 1; - toiletries - Emergency first aid/medicine kit - Bag with my shemagh in it - Bag with other necessities, like some paracord, cable ties, spare plastic bags, water proof bags for copies of passport etc. - and for this trip (to havanathon then back to work) a special gift of a havanathon survival kit by the lovely Lucinda! Thank you! - On the very side there's also a pair of thongs (not in picture) Side pocket 2 - Xikar 5 ct traveldor. - Glasses case - Plenty of extra room Main pocket - Two pairs of jeans (one wearing, one in bag) - Board shorts, rashie and thermal top - Three shirts (one wearing, two in bag) - Three socks, 4 undies, 4 undershirts (wearing one of each rest in bag) - Waterproof sea to summit bag for dirty clothes - Pacsafe 5L travelsafe - 3 kg of coffee that I need to take back to work with me. Clothes packed into packing cubes All packed into bag Then my "personal item". A Tom Bihn Pilot. In it there is; - travel neck pillow. - Smythson currency pouch that I use as my travel wallet for passport currencies, vaccination book etc - Peak Eiger ultra torch - My wallet. Yes it's a plastic zip lock bag from a remote control car part. - Headphone case - Red organiser pouch with minor electronics, usb sticks, iPhone cable, another copy of passport etc, SIM cards. - Hand sanitiser - Microsoft surface pro 2, power cables for it, universal travel adapter. And all packed into the bag. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 3

LordAnubis Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 The only change to this is when travelling to a cold country the coffe has to be left behind and the space is filled with three or four jackets. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
treberty Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Impressive to day the least. Why so much coffee? Do you work 96hrs straight?
LordAnubis Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 I'm at work for 7 weeks. So it's just supply for several months and then some. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
westg Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I can only dream wait until you are married... it may change a little... or a lot. looking forward to seeing one of your four g bangers at havanathon 3
LordAnubis Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 Hahahha. We're staying in deferent rooms westy. Josh may see some of he plays his cards right Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Duxnutz Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Nice. I took more than that for a 4 night domestic trip! What do you do for shoes? One pair only???
LordAnubis Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 Yep one pair only. Normally steel blue boots. Comfortable, waterproof, can walk in them for days. Wearing of course. When in the hostel room I'll walk around with the thongs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rye Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 My winter boots alone will fill that bigger bag. Very well organized! 1
LordAnubis Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 There are also a few extras that get thrown in here when needed. Prayer mat if I'm going somewhere unknown, sleeping bag if I'm going to hostel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
PapaDisco Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 uh huh. So you like to walk around your hotel room in a thong? Why not just to an El Presidente and go Full Monty? Why the 'modesty?' And, IMHO, it's bush-league to waste packing space on thongs. I just carry mine in my back pocket. Like that they don't fill up the suitcase, they're always handy and make for great conversation at the security check.

Thong in Oz = Flip Flops in California... But thanks for the mental image...Mus in a thong prancing around a hostel 1
Sigaar Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Wife and I both over pack...always have. We recently just bought brand new larger (and lighter suitcases)...lol. And we both like when we can travel by car, in my nice and roomy F150 SuperCrew
Jeremy Festa Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Mus, mate, look... I rated you fairly highly last night. And then saw Westy's comment, and it got me thinking. I just went on a 6 week, European, holiday, and took a backpack smaller than that. So wondering what my rating would be? The three girls I travelled with, took about 99kg. One is 30, the other is 4, and the other is 1. And that's 9kg over their allowance. But I didn't have any, as mine was a backpack, so realistically, we were 21kgs under. I just checked the shots from last year's trip too. And will post them from my phone.
Jeremy Festa Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 This year's trip! Backpack just out of frame. Last year's trip. With my Brooks courier's backpack featured in plain site. This evidence forces me to give myself a rating of:- Dark Knight Warlock Power:- 14,000 Sent from my iPhone 1
LordAnubis Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 Hahaha. Well I feel I should get extra points for travelling to Ebola infested countries. You need to take some precautions when going there Also the bag would be empty if it wasn't for the coffee But yes I can concede that your skill level is probably higher than mine. Especially since your a big bloke, and I'm midget sized so my clothes don't take up any space Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
LordAnubis Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 And by the way. What in the name of all that is good and holy can you possibly put in all those bags? Are you carrying a car dismantled into parts in there? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I don't truthfully know either. If I am asked to get the girls dressed, I have to be very, very, careful not to mess up the bags. This is paramount. And way more dangerous than ebola. You mess up a side of the summer clothes suitcase, and a cardigan gets knocked in from the winter clothes side. Don't even. I can't even. It wasn't even a holiday!

And they my friends is what 'family' does to a young lad. international travel with small ones is more than enough to try a saint. I once travelled AUS to Scotland with a 2yr old and pregnant woman (yes we were married) across 6 stops and 36 hrs with four carry on bags plus luggage. After 12 hrs you get a look on your face that airline people know to leave you alone. Dark Knight Warlock, well done on surviving the quest.

LGC Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I'm jealous. I could never travel that light. I have to tote my work tools, CPAP machine, etc. when I travel. I prefer to drive... up to 6hrs. I refuse to fly anywhere with 2 toddlers. My wife gets anxious just going through the airport. The whole routine of flying for work has become second nature at this point. 1
jay8354 Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Jerocco - i feel and share your pain. Family trip (My wife, 7yr old daughter and 2 yr old son) back to HK to visit my 96 yr old grandmother. On the way to leave HK, you know you have a problem when the Taxi driver is having problems arranging the mountain of suitcases into the boot of the car. 2 Large suitcases, 3 medium suitcases, 2 carry old suitcases, stroller and backpack. 1

It wasn't even a holiday! Scary stuff, I've figured it out now... women invented ebola to distract us innocent human beings from the true evil that lies within.
