I hope to get the book soon but let's not make fun of a man who has many "favorites". I have more favorites than culls. I just plain can't make up my mind what I like the best.

Well I laugh at him because I do the same thing. There are so many great habanos out there that every time I smoke one it seems to become my new "favorite".

I just recieved mycopy of the book from the Special offered by the Prez., thank you fine sir. I am awed by the quality of the publication. The color photograhy and paper stock are a cut above.

I have read sections of the book and especially enjoy reading the comments about the particular one that I am smoking. I do believe that he and I will NEVER smoke the same cigars. I mean where in the hell am I going to find a 30 year old cigar? How about 20 years olds?

Holy crap I only have one half box of ten year olds. Most of my stock is 03-05.

He says one should not be sampled till average five years. I have already smoked two cabs of Bolivar that were 05 stock. If we were to meet at a fancy Hong Kong party I'm sure he would be muttering under his breath something about who let in the god damn neaderthal.

Great book of reference though.

MRN supposedly has a walk-in humidor that can hold likely thousands of boxes. Hong Kong is the home of some of the most serious collectors/smokers in the world. It also goes for other things like tea (people there collect and age tea too).

I'm sure he accumulated these boxes for YEARS and YEARS and that is why he can smoke 10, 20, 30+ year old boxes. I'm also sure he has the financial means to buy some from reputable dealers with age on 'em if necessary.

As for them declining in flavor, I believe many serious collectors/smokers keep their cigars much colder than we do (mid to low 50s) as they want to preserve their aged cigars where they are and not age further. Same principle with wine. Take a bottle and keep it well below cellar temperature and you will slow the evolution of it, maybe even bringing it to a halt (although both can be good, a 20 year old bottle that has been kept at 45 degrees will have aged considerably less than one that has been kept at 55 or 60).

Mel,

Looks like you and I had the same idea... I too took advantage of the Min Ron Nee book offer. I agree absolutely gorgeous. The man has put some SERIOUS time into this work of art! Very informative regarding the brands and such.

As far as the man goes... he has the means and he is enjoying his life. I salute the man. As for the rest of us commoners, well, we will just have to do with what we have. My problem is, if I tried to age cigars for the next 20 -30 years, I might not be around to enjoy them! :crying: I'll try to do what Tampa and some of the others are doing... see if I can't get a few 10 year boxes going.

At the rate El Prez is throwing these specials, my problem won't be an aging issue, my problem will be I will have SMOKED  myself out of house & home! :rotfl:

I just ordered five more boxes, I'm sure glad I lover spending money otherwise this would be hell. That bastard(rob) and his cigar peddling hussie are sucking the life out of me and I love it.

I've looked through a copy briefly .... and have also concluded that its a very dangerous book... although my credit card companies will love it. I want some of those .... I need some of these ... ooh ... those sounds good .....

Interesting observation. This is a great book imo. Although I have never thought of reading it back to back, I guess one would pick up nice pieces of knowledge useful for the hobby. I use it like an encyclopedia :-)
