Guest Canorobert Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 A friend I work with went on vacation to Cuba with his family recently. They're Cuban natives. When he returned he was giving a few cigars out at work and I asked if he had anymore. He said yes, I can sell you a box. Long story short I didn't know then what I know now and I should have done some research before I bought a box. I suspect that they are not legit. I truly don't believe he would knowingly sell me counterfeits. Looking to confirm my suspicion from FOH members. I gave some to my neighbors who smoke cigars regularly. they said it was a smooth cigar. I'm thinking they may have picked up on them being illegitimate and didn't want to bust my bubble cause I was so stoked to share with them as they've shared many good cigars with me. I received the box with a wax paper wrapper. The labels were loose in the box. There's no date on the box or label of authenticity. I can't confirm genuineness on Habanos website. The latch on the box looks cheap. Here are some photos. Thank you.
wolfain Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 It's 100% fake. How much did you pay for it? The holographic serial sticker is a dull grey instead of, well.. being holographic. Those cigar labels look a little off also, but no reason to put real Cohibas in a fake box... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
jfestrelabr Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 10000% fake, please, dont smoke this Abraço Cambada!!!!!!
Guest Canorobert Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Paid $300. Wish I knew then what I know now.
oliverdst Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Real "They're Cuban natives." "I truly don't believe he would knowingly sell me counterfeits." Something is not right here.

Guest Canorobert Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 He's born in Cuba and has a thick Cuban accent. Just giving the provenance behind the box. Thanks for confirming guys.
Guest Canorobert Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 The more you know about the counterfeiting the better off. I talked to my friend and he said he got them at the Varadero airport. He said it comes with a seal bag that will get it through airport customs. Hope this helps others in the future!
Habana Mike Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Sounds like another good story they've worked out. I imagine that was curbside outside the airport. Sorry for your loss.....
vinnyvega Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 The "c" is not pierced. They are learning. Not good.
Guest Canorobert Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 With the wealth of knowledge here on how to spot a fake, it's not surprising that they're learning!
Balboa Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Sorry man that sucks. That's some friend you got there.
poloralf Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 I just returned from Cuba and visited the factory as well. They told me everything is sold in unauthorized shops or on the streets, are counterfeits.
