sheppsea Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 I love both the HdM PR and Monte PE, but the Monte just edges it I think. Although my favourite Petit Robusto is the Holland RE from a couple of years ago, I thought they were an outstanding smoke
frenchkiwi Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 I've smoked a few boxes of Petit Edmundos and Hoyos in the distant past and enjoyed them both but now avoid the vitola... just not my cup of tea with the very hot last third. So no experience with the other newfangled thangs. I aged one box of PEs for over 5 years and it developed a really strong peach flavour which was very unusual, and i remember one box of Hoyos that was so salty i checked the wrappers for salt (lol). i suppose Mag48 LEs don't count but i loved those ... just smoked one on the weekend it was still good but not as good as it once was (2009 and past its peak).
Smallclub Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Diplomaticos Colleccion Privada, RE Spain 2012. 2
KB24 Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Glad to see the Monte's up top the list. Just acquired this box from Stan. Looking forward to trying one soon.
phlee Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 I have been smoking quite a few of the hoyo petit robusto recently due to a lack of time... amazing cigars... Good hit of flavor right from the start.
M777 Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I'm roughly through half a box of petit edmundos from '12 that are just excellent. These get me around 50 mins of smoking pleasure. I need to try the hoyo petit.
sw15825 Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 I love the P.E and D5 depending on my mood. Hoyo is pretty decent also and would be my third pick. I smoke alot of them in winter months.
Webbo Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Inspired by this thread I pulled out of the back of my humidor a box of 2012 HDM petit robusto's that I had almost forgotten I had. Not having smoked one for 2 years (and not being enthralled at the time) I gave one a whirl. Wow, a coffee and cream laden treat, somehow also almost a faint lemony (is that a real word?) hint. Above all really smooth and velvety from the first to the last. This really demonstrated to me the benefits of a little age on this cigar. Superb.
Orion21 Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 While not on the list I have to mention the Bolivar Short Bolivar. It has developed into a magnificent cigar over the last couple of years. Truly in a sweet spot right now.
Professor Twain Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 The Hoyo is my favorite. I smoked one from 2014 today. Full of sweet cinnamon and nutmeg. I've found the Edmundos and Petit Edmundos disappointing. Give me the thinner Montes.
ElAbogado Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Only ever had the PE, which I found to be very nice and would definitely smoke again. I've only ever heard good things about the HdM as well. It seems for me I either reach for a full Robusto or something like a Party Short or RASCC instead of reaching for a petit robusto. Maybe I need to give the vitola some more love!
Laxman Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Not a big fan of Petite Robustos or Petite anything for that matter lol. Living in south Florida the weather is pretty much perfect all year round. Have tried them all out of curiosity though. To me would pick the Monte's and the HDM's are a close second.
ehdg Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Hands down the best n nothing else is even close to these but my choice is the LFDC Short Robusto. So wishing I had bought more.
