TCContender Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Partagas Corona Senior and Punch Coronations are not bad.
bolivr Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 I would add the Monte Tubos. They're a coronas grandes and fly under the radar. Got a 3 pack in Cuba and loved them
Fumadoro Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Only a few Boli 3'2 and Punch C., all very good - one Magnum 46 was horrible. The only one I've had more experience with (different boxes from different production / years) was Romeo #2. My impressions were that the tube puts the breaks on the ageing process and not only "mellowing" is slowed down but also any sick or dead period is extended quite a bit. As an example, 2 excellent boxes of early 08 productionn started out very good, fell asleep after about 6 months and did not see their comeback untill more than 1 1/2 years later. By comparison, other '08 (dress boxes) needed but only a few months to get over that dead/sick period. IMHO, this might be the key to the very mixed reviews of tubos in general - but anyways, if you have some patience with them, they can be a treat. Cheers, Alex Thank you for illuminating the reasons why somone would choose a box of tubos vs a box of naked cigars. I've never really been interested in tubos because I'd rather not spend the money on an aluminium tube, but now I can see why someone might perfer the tubo aging experience.
CaptainQuintero Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 I recently smoked an H Upmann Coronas minor gifted to me by the great @Melies and it was superb. Well aged mind you, but a fantastic cigar. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1441379987.147140.jpg If I could be guaranteed good draw on these, which I've had a few bad examples in the past, I'd buy cases! Wicked little smoke and I nubbed this one until my fingers burnt. MattW Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 I have always loved the RyJ No.2 and No.3 tubos with just a couple of years age. They're the cigars that really got me into the hobby and I always keep a few in the humi.
