Popular Post Optic101 Posted August 20, 2015 Popular Post Posted August 20, 2015 Monte Media Corona. 20 Aug 2015 Initial draws Green coffee bean, tobacco, sweet cedar. Nice draw, good amount of smoke Getting a bit more sweeter Feels like a mix of a fresh RyJ Ex4 and CoRo. Half way Moving to more milk coffee with a hay undertone. Some backing spices Last inch Licorice, slight increase in strength to medium Feels like it has a bit a problem with the outside RH, purged it. Cleans up a bit on the flavor. Nice smoke, a bit fresh for my taste but a good mood changer. Can see them more elegant with some time on it. 40 minutes smoke. Thanks for reading. 7
OZCUBAN Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Great review Werner hope to try one soon, its just the right size when time is of the essance cheers Steve 1
JohnS Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Thanks for your review Werner on this much-anticipated cigar! 1
Ryan Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Thanks for the review. I wonder why these are selling for 50% more than the Upmann Half Corona (same size) in most markets so far? I presume the increase starts with Habanos, but there's a big price difference. 1
wolfain Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 My guess is that Monte is a big brand, and the sizable chunk of habanos revenue comes from the Monte cristo label. I read somewhere Monte cristo generates 29% of all revenue and upmann is something like 2-3% all in m. Marketing cash grab. Unless this tastes really amazing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
westg Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Nice as always Werner ...which do you prefer these or upmann half corona 1
Optic101 Posted August 20, 2015 Author Posted August 20, 2015 Nice as always Werner ...which do you prefer these or upmann half corona At the moment the HU HC as they are just more refined and have the advantage of some age. Still the MC is a contender for later. 1
Scrubber Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Nice review and excellent pics as always. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
Waldschrat Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 At the moment the HU HC as they are just more refined and have the advantage of some age. Still the MC is a contender for later. Great review. For me Monti clearly wins over HUHC (the latter had low profile for me). Had a 2015 media with nearly maduro shade, and smoked already great ROOT. Thumbs up (even though too expensive for the time) 2
Destino30 Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Great review - thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
SofaKing Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 My box arrives tomorrow...there will be a ROTT casualty! Thanks for the review, cant wait to compare to your experience. 3
ralphie48 Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 my box is on the way too, should be here any day now cant wait 1
NweakO Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 I was so looking forward to these, and I still am, but the price tag is turning me off. So expensive for something so tiny? sheesh! 1
skarolla Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 They're a great smoke. They're overpriced. That's my review
Lotusguy Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 Voting with my wallet - more $$$ than Monte #4. What a f....ing joke. 3
manicdvln Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I tried one in France, just like every other Montecristo, it smells great but tastes nothing out of the ordinary for brand, gets boring fast. Lots of vanilla cream, hint of cocoa, shitload of smoke, surprised on good construction, doesn't burn out unlike Upmann HC. Harsh burn at the last third. Does its job to give you a sample of signature montecristo flavor. Still prefer Upmann HC because of premium pure tobacco taste that pairs with anything and affordable price. 1
maxcjs0101 Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Nice review. I wonder if you guys would prefer the Media Corona or the No.5 judging just by the taste and not price.
JamesNYC Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Voting with my wallet - more $$$ than Monte #4. What a f....ing joke. I was hoping it was like a Monte #4, but for me not nearly as good. I'll let them rest for a while in hopes they will improve, but more likely they will make a gift cigar for someone who doesnt smoke many CCs
skalls Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 I've only had one of these and with only a week of rest. It reminded me of a less potent petit edmundo. Enjoyed the flavors, 30m burn. Only area it fails, and fails hard, is the value component. $6 for 30 minutes is steep. 1
Ralphanator Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 I was gifted one the other day it had a great draw lot of smoke a real pleasure to smoke i"m not sure of the box date but I would most deff add these to my rotation based on this one time try!
