When do we open the Czar Crypto market?

I have plenty of BTC am willing to convert to CC...

The dark web is quite interesting but you can find stuff there that might make your skin crawl, good thing about it, nothing is easily accessible so you really need to go out searching for stuff and there are no google search engines or other other comforts, there are dedicated search engines for specific stuff like crypto markets if you are in a buying mood, you can buy all the stuff that are banned (from odd food to hard drugs) and regular fake stuff etc..

Amazingly enough, you can still get the odd pop up in tor(the equivalent of the internet browser) about "girls in your zip code who want to meet you!!!"

It's a place where Batman and Spiderman can hang out together.

Of course there is a question that needs to be answered. What was Rob doing at 3 am to cause his fingers to lose all dexterity.innocent.gif

Many things in the dark web that will make you lose your senses and cause your extremities to act funny. lookaround.gif

You don't need to be tech savvy or anything to access it, it's pretty simple these days given how much it's been covered in the media. All you have to download is TOR, which is essentially just a web browser like internet explorer or chrome etc. The difference is all the traffic in this browser is encrypted and is bounced to a few different locations around the world, which essentially hides your identity. Use your normal internet browser to search for the "hidden wiki" I think it was called which will give you the URL you need to put into TOR.

The hidden wiki is essentially a page containing links to all the different website you can now access through TOR. I haven't been on there in years, but there was a lot of shady stuff there. Child porn sites, hacking services, The eBay for drugs (Silk road, now closed down), counterfeit currency, stolen credit cards, weapons etc. I remember seeing somebody claim to work for the Australian Passport Office and was selling legit passports for around $10,000. And then there was the hitmen and I even found somebody offering a kidney! Basically think of something you want, and I guarantee you will find somebody selling it.

Here's the thing though, your identity is anonymous, the sellers identity is anonymous, and you are paying with an untraceable digital currency (bitcoin), so I am highly skeptical about how many of these sellers and services are legitimate. To me, it seems like heaven for scammers.

I also keep hearing stats something along the lines of only 4% of the internet is accessible and the other 96% is hidden in the dark web. I don't believe that at all.

If you're getting pop up's in Tor, you're settings aren't secure. May want to dix that before diving back into the deep end!

Imagine all the bad things about the internet, played out to their logical conclusion. That's the dark web. As far as I can tell, there are three main purposes: underage or otherwise illegal pornography, drugs, and hacker activity. If you're not into one of those three things, the dark web probably isn't for you. As others have mentioned, you can find all sorts of other nefarious goods and services there as well. I'm sure there are legitimate and worthwhile things that take place there, too, but that's certainly not the norm, in my limited experience. I installed Tor and checked out some sites out of curiosity, and it didn't take long for me to uninstall it. Fascinated as I am by all of it, it's definitely not for me.

Taken from Wikipedia: "The Dark Web, often confusingly referred to as the Deep Web[2] or the Darknet[3] is the World Wide Web content that exists ondarknet, networks which overlay the public Internet and require specific software, configurations or authorization to access.[4]"

The important thing to note here, is that the "dark web" is technically any website hidden behind a log-in screen. If you need a username and password to access a site, it's part of the dark web. Not all websites which require log-in credentials are up to no good though. I suppose the more illegal a website's activity, the harder they will make it to access. None of it is terribly hard though.

@aushy 's post summed it up well.

Technically, the dark web is a widely distributed VPN hidden within the internet. It's traffic passes through all the main Internet infrastructure but it's packet payload is encrypted and unknown. What could be found there? Basically the worst that humanity has to offer. I know how to get on but I have no interest after reading many experiences from people that have ventured into it.

It's origins are somewhat benign in that it allowed people living in totalitarian style countries to covertly pass along ideas and communicating without Big Brother watching. It morphed into criminal activity ie "Silk Road" and then decayed into offering the worst the world has to offer. From the accounts I've read. There is some truly horrible stuff there.

It's an encrypted network that piggybacks on top of the regular internet. Its traffic gets routed through a bunch of servers designed to conceal/hide the origin the people using it, so effectively you're much more anonymous on it than you are on the regular web. That means it's a popular place for selling mail order drugs among other things.

Short version?

It's the part of the internet that isn't indexed by any search engines and requires a specific browser to access. Everything is encrypted via VPN like Frank stated, which means it's nearly impossible to track a user down. The fact that it is not indexed means you can't use Google to find anything. I have read that the NSA has developed a tool to "search" it, but I am not well enough versed in this world to comment further. Let's just all agree mostly bad shite happens down there . . . terrorists, criminals, illegal black markets, child pornography etc. Not a good place.

Yikes !! I had no idea this even existed but I'm not surprised.

Some days I'm happy to be old and clueless. Besides... I can find plenty of trouble to get into here in the real world.innocent.gif

There's an old saying "ignorance is Bliss" quiet apt in this case I think

The darkest thing I do on the web is "F.O.H"?

Lol, i have a site where if you type in your password, it will tell you if that password has been used on any internet website before.

site is legit apparently. And the AM stuff is now freely available on torrents by all accounts

ok fair enough.

ALERT mode is activated whenever a site is asking for any personal info.

As I said before, who uses their real info on these sites?

Minimise your risk with a fake name, throwaway email addy, and pay with a pre-paid credit card. If you need a phone number, use one of those pre-paid mobiles you buy in the supermarket.
