sjmistry Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 What's happening all? Looking to replace two of my surfcasting spinning reels. I have one rod that is about 6 1/2 ft (about 2 m) and another that is 12 ft (a little over 3 1/2 m). Looking on advice for new reels. I am considering the Penn Battle 2 5000 for the smaller rod and a Shimano Spheros SW 8000 for the larger rod. Anybody have experience with these reels? Maybe there is something better for a sub $150 usd price point. Let me know. -Shake
joeypots Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 The basic old design Penn stuff is great on the beach. I always have been wary of bringing expensive tackle on to the sand. Any Spinfisher or International that fits your Rods should be fine.
Fuzz Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Interesting first post. Might I suggest you introduce yourself here?
sjmistry Posted August 18, 2015 Author Posted August 18, 2015 Thanks for the info fellas. Found a Spinfisher 7500 for $40, all serviced and made in USA, cant go wrong. Looked like a good deal so snatched it up. Still looking for a second one. BTW @Fuzz intro here: http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=124043. Thanks brother, -Shake
