First time to Spain - Tips? Advise? Herf?

My recommendation is: Don't miss out the smaller places.

If/when you get fed up with the busy life in Barca, rent a car and head north along the E-15/AP-7 to:

GIRONA - About 1 hr drive north of Barcelona. A small, but very cosy town with the best restaurant in the world according to the worlds 50 best restaurants, El Celler De Can Roca (three stars in the Michelin Guide makes it VERY hard to get a table). Girona is like Barcelona in miniature. You'll find some good cigar shops there.

TOSSA DE MAR - A picturesque town by the sea. About 30 minutes south east from Girona, over the mountains. Great beach in the city center. A medieval castle and a walled old town with nice restaurants. Easy parking (and free) along the dried out river bed. Easy access to everything and at least two well stocked cigar shops along the main shopping street. It is only a 10-15 min walk from the city center to just about everything. Plenty of hotels if you feel like staying for a while.
