Hey everyone! New to the forum here. I recently picked up a box of what I think are fake Siglo VI's. The only reason I bought them was because I am friends with the owner of the store and the cigars were purchased from Spain. Everything seemed okay besides the C in Cuba on the band. Does anyone have any inputs? Thank you so much and I am glad to be a member! 8d0c00095b046c7c9df69e1c017d560e.jpgd6db4c19fbcf9cd61900884e6b756884.jpg49d00c89929b8d74693f7ffaac13386b.jpg7e0c7f2d3ac1e4c2fdb485ca6d6dc283.jpg04db8d1537bb599009aaeba1c8d74c77.jpgd104f9ad776115c5835a5c7b9560cae3.jpg006b7951e465bd6e82be168f29d63620.jpg

The box seemed to be perfect from what I understand. I am not really up to date with the codes but it was EUN FEB 14. The cigars absolutely tasted more Nicaraguan than cuban.

Hi there!

Wrong section of the forum for that post but no harm done. Proper etiquette would suggest you introduce yourself first (see the section for new members, lots of interesting and useful material there).

Welcome to FOH!

Looks fake to me (mho)

Box seems overly varnished from what boxes I have received, but it might just be the lighting. The wrapper seems a little darker than I'm used to as well. Did you verify the code? Lastly, the factory code and date seem every dark and thicker font than I am used to. I'm no expert by any means, just my 2 cents.

Shouldn't the 2014 have the new holographic bands as well? Very dark ash for Cohiba, and extremely bad burn line from pictures.

this is not my a siglo VI ash, unless it was dipped in the ocean before smoking? crap.. now i think all my habanos from spain are fake! coverears.gif

Frankly nothing about the box or bands looks genuine....

doubtless you can discuss it your next time in Spain....with your "Friend".

"Vendido in Cuba".................hilarious.....................

Looks like a used cookie sheet for the wax wrapper. Might have a slight chocolate chip taste to the gars!

My apologies! I didn't mean to intrude I am pretty new to forums in general. Thanks for your feedback!

Hey Msm, how are you?

Welcome aboard.

Huge red flags, not even know where to start.

Why do you say they are "impressive fakes"?

I stand very humbled. I guess my knowledge of authentic cc was far worse than I thought.

Why would you buy them when you knew they were fakes? just curious.

The owner of the store is my friend here in Florida. I believe he personally thought the cigars were real when he bought them so I decided to try them. I bought the cigars back, got a full refund and showed him why they were all fake.

At least your friend gave you a refund. I would be asking your friend to do a audit of all the inventory. Start with the store manager. Something isn't right.

we are all learning.

from my first 10 boxes, 3 or 4 were fake.

from my next 100, none.

buy here in FoH and you will always be safe.

besides good cigars you will find good friends.

Two things. "Vendido en Cuba', always a bad sign. http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=119632

That and the Altadis sticker is missing.

We need a sticky about new members first posts asking about fakes, almost a weekly occurrence.....

If you have to ask, they are fake. Especially Cohiba.

There is nothing "impressive" about these at all - I'm insulted. 2 seconds search on CCW gives it away.

I would love to buy here! Are there any trusted sellers who ship to the US?

Don't worry msm1771, nothing directed at you mate! It's the general notion of fakes, not you posting them. =)

Thanks for sharing and welcome!

Sorry - that was too harsh. We were all beginners once. My apology.

CCW is cubancigarwebsite.com which has a great section on fakes.

Agreed on the need for a sticky on this specific topic. As a newbie myself I made the same error (though my smokes are real) with my first topic.

I think the fake vs. real angle is a driver of folks to sites like these (thus helping to grow the community). I know it's annoying to most, but a lot of folks can use the benefit of the wisdom you all possess.
