Rugby World Cup 2015

On the personal hate Scale,..and it is pesonal + tongue in cheek.

1. Anyone who beats New South Wales.....including the Bin Laden 15.

2. New Zealand All Blacks. While I may appreciate their professionalism....I detest them none the less.

3 South Africa Springbocks. I don't know hoe they fell behind the "All Blacks" .....but God I love Japan for all the soul searching they brang.

4: England. Unless you are a Pom....who doesn't hate them lol3.gif

5. no one ......anyone who knocks off the top 4 are champions in my book!

surely you don't mean 1.

for me, cut out the first three words. got thrown out of a pub in nsw during a super rugby final about 6 years ago for cheering wildly for the crusaders and trying to paint my face (300 people in the pub and i was forced to stand outside and watch through a window with 6 kiwis - the ignominy of it!) but at least i could have a cigar. number 1 is nsw anything.

england then jumps level with nz for 3. my worst nightmare is a nz v eng world cup final. i'd hope for 0-0 and game called off for an earthquake.

back to 2, and yes, i know they don't play rugby - dallas cowgirls.

4 is manspew united. (you would think past 50 one would grow up and not use childish names - apparently not).

5. south africans (i gather we are no longer allowed to call them yarpies?).

6. collingwood, though these days, they are as toothless as the brizzy lions.

What a memorable match, loved it ! Second best after I watched the Springboks beat the All Blacks in the historic Johannesburg match with Nelson Mandela attending. Smoked a Salomones watching it at

Please tell me everyone just saw japan upset the bokkes! holy F*ck what a match although i will say the springs looked lazy and looked like all they had to do was showup wow just wow

Time we started talking about this! Thoughts, people? Other than "Scotland to win", obviously....

Gosh why are you guys making it so complicated.

Favourite team All Blacks therefore hate all teams not All Blacks. Some team, such as those currently or scheduled to play the All Blacks, are hated more than others.

isn't that what we have just done? with a touch more specificity?

the problem comes on matches such as the nrl grand final. like rob, i'm a long term broncos fan and i'd like to see them win, but if they don't, no issue. what JT and matt scott have done for the state means i have no problem at all with them winning - as for the argument that JT needs to win another flag to be an immortal, rubbish. he has proved himself one of the game's greatest ever time after time. as good as johns was, i'd take JT ahead of him. he might be the best i have ever seen, bar lewis, of course.

Will Skelton and Wycliff Palu out of 2015 Rugby World Cup with injury

Will Skelton has succumbed to a shoulder injury whilst Wycliff Palu is out with a hamstring problem. The same thing happened to Palu in 2011. The replacements are James Hanson and Sam Carter, who was not in the original World Cup squad for Australia due to injury, which he has now overcome. At least, the Wallabies now have three specialist hookers.

Both players did not start against Fiji, and probably would have only figured as replacements due to injuries for the big games in the tournament.

I take it that there's not many fellow Welshmen here then, judging by the lack of elated comments after we beat England!

It was so heart-warming to see the Wallabies perform so well against England this morning. Bernard Foley was outstanding at five-eighth, David Pocock and Michael Hooper were their usual dependable selves at the ruck and our scrum was superb.

What 'topped off' the game for me was watching Matt Giteau score the last try. After what he's been through in the last few years, it was a 'nice touch' to the game.

just up after watching this mornings brilliant game.

What did I like:

+ hearing the words, "English sporting disaster" (and it wasn't about cricket or the FIFA WC)

+ watching english fans leave at the 75min mark

+ the fact Wales qualify :)

+ that Foley scored 28 of 33 points

+ that it was the Hooper / Pocock show

+ the Aussie scrum

+ that I no longer have to listed to "Sweet Chariots"

+ that the English press will go off like rabid dogs

But the second half performance by the Aussies was not the sort of game that would survive unpunished against the All Blacks, room for improvement.

AUS v WAL might be a slow affair, teams conserving their energies and trying things out.

After moving house last week and packing and unpacking boxes day and night, I've finally caught up on all the games.

Sad to see Scotland lose out to the Boks, but heartened by a stronger showing in the second half. A good result against Samoa and we reach quarter-finals. Given that we started our warm-up matches with zero wins in eight games, I'm proud of the transformation and the resurgence of Scottish fighting spirit.

Thought the Wallabies played very well against the English. Sad to see the host nation out so early, but once again I'm left feeling that the English press put too much expectation and pressure on a team that is far from the dominant force in World Rugby that the press keep claiming. The Sunday Times had 8, yes E-I-G-H-T whole pages of blame and recrimination, and most of it was based on unrealistic expectation. They've got some great players in their squad and many exciting options for the future. Hope they give some of the younger lads who haven't featured so much a run out against Uruguay.

As for Australia, as an old forward myself, it's great to see Pocock and Hooper forming such an effective partnership, and showing the world that Rugby ain't all about the starched collar brigade out on the wing! Thought the Aussie scrum looked great too. They've timed their firm perfectly, and gave got to be good bets to make the final now.

Ireland v Italy was an interesting game. The Irish never really got going at full tilt, owing to some impressive Italian defending. But Sexton showed yet again why he's such a fantastic asset, with not just the kicked points, but his ability to open up defences with quick vision and quick feet. And it was so great to see Parisse feature, if only briefly, in this World Cup. One of my favourite players, and a talisman for the Italians.

Quick shout out to the Pumas, who've been quietly going about business, and starting to look a bit tasty now.

Should be a great last 16.

Michael Cheika, the coach of the Wallabies, has stated that they won't be relying on momentum in their upcoming clash against Wales. This proved true after their disastrous 41-13 loss in the Bledisloe Cup against the All Blacks this year after winning the first game 27-19. He also pointed out that no team has won the World Cup after losing a match in the preliminary stage.

I'm not usually a fan of Union at all but enjoyed watching the Aussies win last weekend at a pommy mate's place. It was actually a pretty enjoyable game to watch too - not too much kicking and start, stop.

Watching George Gregan as a pundit on Kiwis/Tonga tonight, I can't help remembering this awesome sledge from 2003. I think it might prove fitting for NZ this year again, if they don't stop those ridiculous handling errors.

"Four more years, boys. Four more years."

Hats off to the Wallabies, defence kept us back even with 13 men. Bravo.

Gah! It's tough being Scottish - if the cuisine don't kill you, the sport will!

Samoa made us look decidedly ordinary for long periods of the game. They must be wondering how you can score 4 tries and lose the game. I'm not sure how we scraped the result to be honest, but Laidlaw deserves huge credit for his quick thinking and useful boot.

Wallabies' 13 man defence was hugely impressive. As were England, in a match that didn't matter. I'd be upset by it, if I hadn't had to listen to so much "Scotland are ****, aren't they?" chat in the run-up to the tournament. God forbid I mention that in the local pub now!

The Aussie win came down to defence, discipline and luck.

That scrum is something else and growing in confidence.

Scotland V Australia next Sunday so that should be a cracker. Divided household here.

I'll be supporting Wales over the Springboks and that should be a great game also.

And the final will be on 3:00 am Sun (01 Nov) morning (aust easten time)!!! So we might have to find a bar after Havanathon to watch, it's a tough job.

Ireland's win over France (24-9) means that they play Argentina in the quarter-final next weekend, whereas france now play the All Blacks. This may be the best opportunity for Ireland to make a World Cup Semi-Final, despite losing Jonny Sexton, captain Paul O’Connell and Peter O’Mahony to injury in the game today against France.

Ireland has the all-round game to edge the Pumas but it will be much tougher going than against a semi-motivated French side. The Pumas have an equally formidable pack and a backline that is slightly more fluent than the French one at the moment. The key might be how well Sexton's replacement copes with the pressure as starting 10.

QUARTER-FINAL 1 - SOUTH AFRICA 23 - WALES 19

South Africa have much to be thankful for after their captain, scrum-half Fourie du Preez scored a brilliant late try in the first quarter-final. Fly-half Handre Pollard kicked 5 penalties and a field goal to kick 18 points and keep the Springboks alive in the 2015 World Cup.

QUARTER-FINAL 2 - NEW ZEALAND 62 - FRANCE 13

New Zealand showed why they are a force to be reckoned with in this World Cup by demolishing France 62-13 in a nine-try to one masterclass performance. Before the match, France were noted as a bogey team for the All Blacks in previous World Cups, but after this game, it's hard to see anyone else in this tournament putting up an opposition to stop New Zealand going all the way in 2015.

If they did that then it back fired on them today. Great game by the All Blacks. Hopefully a sign of more to come.

I felt for the Welsh last night as they played a great defensive game despite the nerves and errors. The Springboks managed to lift at the right moment, but honestly if you're going to play like that, book flights now for home after the game next week.

The AB's just found another gear in the last 20min and looked as fresh as day one, crap. France shows some sparkle but only two of their players really stood up and played to win, Fofana, Picamoles and to a lesser extend Spedding.

And now the Irish are getting a Puma mauling.

The whisky is also now open in our house, the wife's got the lion rampant flag out and 'when' the wallabies win I may be cooking dinner for a week.
