Guest chunkatlarge Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Hmm thats not me after a Herf..... but if its good enough for Mark Hamill Mi casa es su casa!
dougincanada Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 I would rather cut my cigar in half before its lit. Relit cigar smoke I find putrid. Apologies to cigar purists like Ken. Half a Virgin smoke is better than going in for sloppy seconds. Regards, Doug
khamy Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Yeah relights within a few hours have been no problems for me. More then 12 hours, not so pleasant but am open minded and will try the purging method mentioned. Clipping the ash end of the cigaar could probably improve smoke ability. I think there are situations where you need to do things and things may get a little dirty and dwarves may get involved, but if you enjoy it and no one gets hurt, do it and share the knowledge.

PapaDisco Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Someone on here turned me on to the flame thrower purge: not only do you blow into the cigar, but you light the gas coming off the end. It's quite an entertaining parlor trick to watch all that blue and gold flame that's burning off the volatile compounds that have been collecting downstream of the ash. Here's the interesting thing: the flame won't last forever, it will eventually exhaust itself and it exhausts itself differently on different marcas and vitolas. So if you purge a PL Encanto you'll get much more of a flame thrower than a PSD4, and perhaps that's fitting for a stick known for its need to age a bit, a representative of the tar and volatiles that are building up differently in each stick depending on how it's made. If you let this volatile stuff cool down in the cigar after it goes out and then re-light, it's no wonder that many of us dislike the experience, and also no wonder that many guys swear by the 'purge before pause' method.
ralphie48 Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I only relight within minutes in the rare occAsion I need to put it out for an extended period which I can maybe count on one hand I will just toss it
