Maybe expectation was a little too high...but hey...it is hard to contain expectation. Same can be said for a lot of the LEs or GR etc. I find that i more enjoy all cigars within 5 years. After this point i think they loose something and i don't enjoy them as much as i would have. I have never had a cuban cigar that has been so bad that i've pitched yet (unless it was a plug, but that's not the tobaccos fault). 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You are correct about some of the LE's like the Montecristo D LE 2005, was definitely a flop, along with the Ramon Allones Allones Extra LE 2011, which I had extremely high hopes for... but the early LE's from 2000 and 2002 were amazing... Been working through a cab for a few years now, and, 12 sticks in, I've yet to have a good one. Construction, aroma and sheen all looked good, but they're harsh smokes with irregular burn - any cone is always off-centre. Have tried everything, humidity high, low, dry-boxing. Real shame. Keep hoping they'll come good, but I suspect I've got a Friday afternoon box lol The good thing is that it was the state of this cab that got me looking for more reliable sources, which in turn brought me to FOH! I have had the same cigar from 97' and mid 80's and the 97' was flat and the mid 80's was mind blowing flavorful. You get good and bad (and in between) in everything. Those D4's have the construction and aroma and wrapper to be seriously good cigars. Just let them rest for 60 days upon receipt. They will have done some travelling in the last 30 days (from HK to OZ and now to yourself). They will need a kip but should be ready to go once acclimatized. phreedh Posted July 29, 2015 Share Posted July 29, 2015 Sometimes it's just a matter of the occasion. Last year, I had a Por Larrañaga Panetelas from the mid 70s on my birthday in late September. It kind of sucked and I was rather disappointed. Had another from the same box this summer, it was great. The only difference was the circumstance under which it was enjoyed.
