El Presidente Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 State of Origin, Word Cup (Rugby/football), Superbowl etal...... Two hours. You are pumped....dinner/lunch done, favourite beverage in hand (reserves at the ready),......but what cigar do you usually go for? id there one that makes it regularly to the big game? Traditionally it is my DC time. Lusi finds its way into my hand 99% of the time.
dicko Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 G'day Rob. Great test cricket for me, Australia v England or India. Test rugby would be next, Australia v British and Irish Lions or All Blacks. If I'm smoking it would be a couple of my everyday favourites, maybe a robusto and a petit corona whatever is smoking well.
Lasabar Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Depends on the company. I usually find a DC too large for the group may not all be smoking so the cigar may be cut short or another activity or food may take over. I do prefer a bigger cigar, though, so I would reach for a Monte or Upmann 2 or something similar in size. If I know I will be able to be uninterrupted whilst smoking I'll go for the biggest longest guy I can find!
JohnS Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 This may sound obvious, but I find that whatever cigar I am smoking tastes much better when the team I support is doing well. The opposite applies when my team is performing badly.
Jimm902 Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 If it's the cricket then definitely DC ...Hoyo or VR...anything less in terms of time and typically a No 2 either MC or Upmann...
eswary Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I prefer a Churchill when I feel the game is going to be a easy win. Long smokin fun. If I feel it's going to be a up and down crazy game, I'll typically just smoke a PC at half time. Americans are intense when it comes to football. (American football), can't even smoke when game is crazy intense or close score the whole way.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
busdriver Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 The last sporting event I went to was the Tropicana and that was a Lusi all the way! One cigar for the whole show!
Bill Hayes Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Due to weather conditions and practicality I usually smoke outside during the afternoon for sporting events viewed at home. So my go to cigar was the Partagas Serie Du Connaissuer No 2 - a nice refined medium body. But I have ran out of them unfortunately. Looking for an alternative now. I also have smoked Punch Punch. I usually look to match the cigar to what I'm drinking...usually beer of some description. Strong Partagas to Stout, medium Partagas to Porter or Chocolate Stout, Punch Punch to maybe a wheat beer. I find IPA and American style Pale Ales a little bitter for cigars unfortunately.
