I've decided to pick up a few now that the 24:24 has forced me to get a coolerador or two :) I started to search but there appear to be no shortage and I want to know what the community at large has used and has been happy with. I use a mix of beads and boveda 65% packs, but I like the peace of mind I can get from seeing the same reflected on a hygrometer.

Thank s everyone!

Either the Caliber IV by Western Humidor or the HygroSet. Both are user adjustable.

Caliber IV has +/- 1% RH accuracy, and the Hygroset is +/-2%.

I have the caliber IV and the caliber 3. Both seem to be decent and afororable. The only word of advice, when calibrating make sure to calibrate in the desired humidity environment. So if storing at 65 rh, I would calibrate at 65rh.

X2. I have just purchased the caliber IV. Only negative is that's it's tough to read in low light.

I have four calibre IV, one in each humidor, and they are solid. I have been salt testing every six months and I have had to adjust two by 1% in the last year but that's it. Highly recommend them!

Ditto on Caliber IV. Mine came perfectly calibrated right out of the box and has never needed an adjustment (owned for 18 mo.).

I've been using a couple temp/humidity "tags" from wirelesstag.net in my wineador. Pricier, but it's a pretty cool device that allows me to monitor both temp and humidity on my phone.

So many options with it too. For example, in a large coolerdor/wineador/cabinet, you could program it to interact with a wemo plug to turn on a small computer fan for a couple minutes anytime the tags, placed on opposite sides of the storage device, measure a humidity difference of more than 3% or the difference in temp is more than 2 degrees.

It's good you have had a positive experience but numerous digital mfg's recommend against salt test as it can ruin the instrument and indeed I lost one this way

What is the recommended calibration for digital then? Boveda calibration kit?

I use an Ambient Weather weather station with 8 hygrometers attached to it. I also have a couple Caliber III and IV. I much prefer the weather station just because it is accurate and I can look at the temp and humidity on the base station for all 8 hygros.

I use a Boveda 65 pack just because I'm calibrating the hygros for 65rh.

Now that is cool. Pretty sure this is what I am going to go with.

+1 more on the Caliber IV, never had an issue with mine.

I really can't say enough good things about it. Mine were calibrated right out of the box, but they can be calibrated, if needed. Readings can be taken anywhere from every 30 seconds to 4 hours. The graphs are cool to look at as well. Couple this device with an electronic temperature controller and you can really dial in a wineador. Only problem I've found is it can be addicting to look at and follow throughout the day.

Each tag also has a motion sensor, should you want to keep tabs on whether someone went in your stash while you weren't there. If you wanted, you could program a wireless camera to turn on anytime motion was sensed and set it to record for a certain amount of time after the movement was detected and send the video to your phone. That's getting a little crazy though.

I'm thinking I'll get a few extras for my Bee Hives to see what how they are fairing and another in the gun safe.

Ditto, ditto on the Western Digital Caliber IV.

However, do NOT salt test them - per the warranty, if they discover you salt tested them, warranty is null and void. If you need to check them, throw them in a ziploc/tupperware with a Boveda (a small one in your desired RH range is fine). Saline vapor is known to be corrosive to various metals (hence the warranty provision).

I dont even put much stock in the exact number my caliber iv gives me - its more about noticing a spike or dip in the numbers that tell you whether your humi is holding steady, or over- or under-humidified.
