Guybrush Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Buying a property in Cuba could be quite difficult I suppose. You are aware of the current political system?

dougincanada Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 You might be able to pick up a house if you pick up a wife in Cuba. As a non citizen I think you need to prove you stay in the area enough to warrant a chance to buy a property. Profit as a rental, almost impossible. Under communism profit is a dirty word. Although some locals "host" non native cubans, the cubans involved usually reside on the property. If the authorities find your making rental income without the proper permissions you can end up in jail. Jail is a bad holiday. Regards, Doug
cigarsandcoffee Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 It would be a bummer to buy property then have it seized.
LordAnubis Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Yeah, i wouldn't trust purchasing property there. I would imagine the title deed (if they have one) isn't worth the paper it's written on. I doubt there's much protection for a home owner. Just stick to investing in Aus or London mate
Ken Gargett Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 people have looked at it for years. you'd need very good, reliable local contacts, at this stage. and i'd suggest only doing it with dosh you can afford to toss away.
Guest chunkatlarge Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 whats this all about http://www.rightmove.co.uk/overseas-property-for-sale/Cuba.html/svr/3111;jsessionid=21E54E8EF23BC22CBB2B6D5B7D5FBB4B?sortType=1
Fuzz Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Probe until you feel you've learnt enough That's what the little grey skinned fella with big black eyes told me...
El Presidente Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 You have to be a Cuban National to own property.
SAG Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 My understanding on this topic is, even Cuban people do not own the land. they own the home!, but not the property it is on.
SparklePony Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I found this. It's interesting. It's written from an American perspective (of course) but I think it's reputable enough. http://www.worldpropertyjournal.com/real-estate-news/cuba/havana/cuba-real-estate-buying-real-estate-in-cuba-cuba-property-investors-pablo-tacon-havana-homes-for-sale-raul-castro-fidel-castro-trading-with-the-enemy-act-8985.php
