Thought this might be fun.

There is a long-running radio programme on BBC Radio 2 called Desert Island Discs, where every week a celebrity is asked to imagine they are marooned on a desert island.

Each guest is asked to name the following that they couldn't live without:-

8 songs/recordings

1 book

1 luxury item

You are automatically allowed The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, and the Bible, or another appropriate religious or philosophical work.

For the purposes of our forum, you're also allowed an unlimited supply of just one Cuban cigar, current or out of production (obviously a cutter and lighter are included).

What would you choose?

Here are my choices:-

1 - Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You - Led Zeppelin

2 - Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) - Jimi Hendrix

3 - Hush - Deep Purple

4 - Sinnerman - Nina Simone

5 - Whole Lotta Rosie - AC/DC

6 - Thunder Road - Bruce Springsteen

7 - Bach Violin Sonata No. 1 - Itzhak Perlman

8 - Wagner Der Ring des Nibelungen - Daniel Barenboim (Bit of a cheat, as it's a boxed set)

Book - The Magus - John Fowles

Luxury - A complete home-brew kit

Cigar - Bolivar Lonsdale

What would you guys have?

In all seriousness though, mine would be the first 8 songs off Ryuichi Sakamoto's Playing the Piano.

1984

An 18 foot skiff

And Sancho Panza Molinos

Wow...hard to choose so few songs and one book. Currently I would choose...

1. Hey Jude - The Beatles

2. Let It Be - The Beatles

3. Something - The Beatles

4. Good Vibrations - The Beach Boys

5. God Only Knows - The Beach Boys

6. Surf's Up - The Beach Boys

7. Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) - Jimi Hendrix

8. Won't Get Fooled Again - The Who

The Art of Cricket - Don Bradman

Cohiba Piramides Extra (because they are smoking so well lately!)

I can't imagine listening to the same music, or reading the same book over and over, so I'll pass on those. Luxury item would be a beautiful, female, genie.
