Popular Post Quint Posted June 24, 2015 Popular Post Posted June 24, 2015 ........I think of what a wonderful man and father he was and how so very proud of him I am. He was a hard working man that put 110% into everything he did. He was a engineering who worked in technologies that were cutting edge and has quite a few patterns in the electron beam industry. My father work in an industry where there where some of the smartest physicists and PhDs of the era in there respective fields. Many companies emerged from the research these group of people did back in the 50's and 60's in the ion beam and electron beam industries. I worked with him for many years when I got out of college before I spread my wings and went out exploring my own path. Even at home he was a do it yourself type of guy. Additions to the home and yard he would design and do. It never occurred to him to hire somebody to do this type of work. He also had many hobbies that he became quite good at including photography, he made his own dark room for developing film including color film back in the day when color was just starting to become available commercially. He also build furniture and cabinetry. I remember one winter he decided he was going to build a 17' motor boat. He built a small structure in our back yard that he could heat and plowed forward and built this boat of his. Later that summer we were out fishing in the ocean every other weekend. He played the trumpet and taught himself keyboards, He Made remote planes and built HO trains. I almost forgot he was one hell of a cook. I have fond memories of waking up Sunday mornings smelling what ever he was cooking for Sunday dinner. I could go on and on about but it's hard to type on my phone through clouded eyes. He was a great father and a great husband. He was also and extremely honest guy with the utmost integrity, a real role model to me even though it took years for me to appreciate and understand it. It looks like he has less than 24 hrs but he is asleep and at peace here at the Kaplin house which is a very beautiful hospice facility. The people here are angles, I don't know how the do it day in and day out. I'm going to miss you dad and I love you. Thank you for everything you've done. I almost forgot to mention he was the one who got me into cigars and I shared many a quality moment with him sharing a smoke. He lived a long good life to a ripe old age of 87. Sorry for the typos and grammatical errors also sorry for going on and on but in a strange way it was therapeutic. 38
