From what you have tasted....what is your selection or selections (three only) as the best 2013/ 2014 cigars to lay down for a guaranteed 96+ point (***** or whatever your rating) cigar in 5 to 8 years?

Your "no brainer" selections (and why) for cigar magic down the track thinking.gif

For what I have in stock I believe it would be H Upmann Sir Winstons, RASS 50 cab and La Flor de Cano Gran Cano based on how they're smoking now and through past experience. Bolivar Super Coronas may well have the legs for greatness too.

Partagas Lusitainia Great now but I assume will get even better. It has a strength of flavor that should hold up over time. (again, I assume.)

Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo de San Juan 2014. As said in the review, these are definitely going to be worthy of a decade or more of age. A great example of a "lighter" cigar that benefits greatly as the years go by alot like the Hoyo DC's of yesteryear.

I would agree with any LUB Upmann no.2 although there are so many great quality cigars over the last year. But I still hold to the Hoyo San Juan cigar as one meant for laying down.

Agree on the Lusitanias, very good now and should only improve. I've really been enjoying the Picadores so not sure I'll have any around a year or two from now.....

2014 Hoyo San Juan

All have been exceptional to me and can't wait to see how they will progress.

Several people voting for RASS Cabs @ five to eight years. I think they're great at one year. What happens to them @five to eight years?

Always the Luisitanias for me. As mentioned above they are smoking pretty stellar now IMO, but you can just tell there is more potential around the corner.

See a few votes for the RASS 50 cabs. Is there that much of a difference between a 50 cab and a box 25?

If so, what is this due to; better quality sticks get put in cabs? Or does the box improve ageing somehow?

Cohiba Esplendidos

Cohiba Robusto Supremo

Bolivar Super Corona

Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo San Juan

Why these? I guess I feel that after 12 months these will be great but after 5 they will be at their peak.

I have a box of Monte Petit Edmundos (ARG MAR 14) and RyJ Exhibición No. 4 (POU JUN 13) that both are smoking well, but have plenty of growth potential over the coming years!

I have other cigars that I bought speculating that they will be great around the 5 year mark including Sir Winnies (ARG ABR 14), Connie A's (LUB NOV 14), LGC MdO No. 2's (ULA JUL 14), and LGC Inmensos (ULA SEP 14). I have yet to crack into any of these, but if any of you all have info on how they are smoking, I'd love to hear it!

The Luci's are smoking stellar right now with only a year down. I'm saying 93-94 now. 5-8 years for a 97+, now way not with the wait to me.

Smoke em while you got um. Now!

For me, I like to find the 90 and lay it down for 5 years to get the 97. Coro, Esplandifos, sir Winnie.

...cigars to lay down for a guaranteed 96+ point...

Whatever you think is already 96+pts and believe will improve with age.

Cohiba Robusto Supremo, I think gonna be 99-100 points in 5 years.

San Cristobal Torreon in jar is also nice.

Partagas Lusitania Gran Reserva now is about 95-96 points, but its potential ageing is still very long.

but there is one cigar not qualify in this thread which I think will come up in 3-5 years, is Cohiba 1966.

Some Winnie's, Upp 2s, ...need some Lusis and Esplendidos.

Out of the cigars that I have smoked, I would say:

HDM Le Hoyo Des Dieux (BUM FEB 14)

HDM Le Hoyo de San Juan (OPG NOV 14)

Cohiba Siglo VI (BRS AGO 13)

I am hoping my PL Picadores and QdO Coronas will be in that 95+ range in the long haul but they are in storage for a deep slumber...won't be touching these for at least 3 years

What about the BBF. I think they will be doing well in 5 years time. Very good now. Also the RYJ EX4 hopefully will be doing well in 5 years time. QDO Coronas too.
