Popular Post Drguano Posted June 20, 2015 Popular Post Posted June 20, 2015 Just staggered in from the party in Belgrave Square and it was a rousing success. The bespoke cocktails and the Pol Roger 2004 Champagne flowed and the Ramon Allones 225 LE made me drool (although perhaps it was the Havana Club rum made especially to pair with the cigar that had me salivating). Canapés were marvelous, music excellent but it was the huge crowd of people enjoying great smokes on a lovely London night that made the night transcendent. I wish you all could have been there. And I have no idea why any picture of Rob and Stuart Fox inverts itself. It is just their nature. I blame it on the shirt. 7
Ken Gargett Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 sounds fabulous. fascinated with the rum. can you tell us more?
SCgarman Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Is the guy with the white beard Marvin R. Shanken??

shlomo Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Is the guy with the white beard Marvin R. Shanken?? Shanken the poop doctor! Love it.
Drguano Posted June 20, 2015 Author Posted June 20, 2015 sounds fabulous. fascinated with the rum. can you tell us more? Ken, I wish I could tell you more but one of the effects was a bit of amnesia. The rum was distributed in vast quantities at the conclusion to a number of speeches and by that time, I had enjoyed copious amounts of Pol Roger and had discovered a bespoke cocktail for the event called the Hurlingham. Here is what H&F had to say about the rum (which I do recall being lovely, rich and reminiscent of cognac, not heavy on the molasses and more of an aged style rather than the rawer Havana Clubs):"While enjoying the 225 cigar guests will have the chance to try some Havana Club Aniversario 225, a rum that has been blended specifically for Hunters & Frankau by Havana Clubs Master Blender, Asbel Morales. This extremely rare rum will not be produced commercially."

ehdg Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 I'd love to hear thoughts on the special cigar the RA 225 LE. I like the size and rounded head of it. Did anyone smoke it make/take some mental notes on it? Love to hear/read please.
JohnS Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 I understand it is an outstanding cigar whilst still having a Ramon Allones flavour profile. 1
Drguano Posted June 20, 2015 Author Posted June 20, 2015 I loved it! It actually made me drool on the inhale. Definitely a Ramone Allones. The flavors are reminiscent of the Gordito. With all the other flavors of the evening, bespoke cocktails, the special rum and endless variety of foods, it was impossible for me to give a better assessment of the cigar. Suffice it to say, I would love to have more opportunities to revisit the cigar. 1
Tino Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Cracking cigar, more importantly a wonderful evening! Great to catch up Dr G. The cigar is terrific, smoking beautifully. Reminded me of the Lebanese RA regional Phoenicio.
Ryan Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Looks like a great time. So many good people. Sorry I missed it. Thanks for the pictures.
SeeGar Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 We missed you, Ryan. Only complaint - the party was too short. Cigars can be pocketed, but it was hard to do justice to the unique booze that was on offer. Great to see old friends and make a few new ones. 1
Drguano Posted June 21, 2015 Author Posted June 21, 2015 The other cigar handed out was the Bolivar labelled Exclusivo Gran Bretana. I am smoking it right now and enjoying it. It is very young, shows Bolivar genes and has an excellent draw and burn. I approximate the size as about 5 1/2 inches by 54 ring gauge. H&F says it will be a while before it is available retail. Watch for it. 1
in0gravity Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 That's the Bolivar Belgravia. This years ER for the UK. Montesco Vitola
Drguano Posted June 22, 2015 Author Posted June 22, 2015 Yes! It (some of it) is coming back to me now. Got it's name because it was introduced in Belgrave Square.
Mr.T Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Oh some wonderful smokes and drinks! Thanks for sharing! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
