I've actually put some thought into this since they sell tons of accessories to keep your gun safe humidified for your wood handled weapons.

That's about as far as I got as I couldn't play with the safes at the store to see how air tight they would be.

I also then realized that larger gun safes are expensive and also are made to store long guns so there would be the extra cost of making shelves for the interior and such for cigars and boxes.

I suppose it can be done though and would be a great conversation piece, especially since I've converted an old mini fridge into one of the best humidors I've had in keeping humidity steady!

If you're willing to store your boxes and sticks in tuppers inside the gun safe they humidity and whether or not the door seals in no longer a problem. Plus, with all that mass, you should have a very, very stable temperature.

I like the tuppers, since they'll help lock in aromas as the sticks age and that's a good thing IMHO. If, however, you find that too cumbersome, then I'd experiment with making a clear lucite interior door with it's own sealed frame to epoxy to the inside of the safe. If you could also get some electricity in there for lighting (as well as whatever active humidification you'd be using) then the thing would look seriously cool with the big safe door open and all your sticks tucked away behind the lucite! :cigar:

Something in between a gun safe and a cooladoor is a large vinotemp type cabinet. I picked up a 300 bottle unit where the refrigerator part did not work for $75. They are wood lined and vapor sealed doors. I made shelves from the bottle dividers that came with it. I might put up some pictures tomorrow.
