JC67 Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Hi fellow FOH,s Just wanted some feedback on success rates of buying Bolivar Royal Coronas blind and quality over the last 12 months?
El Presidente Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 ULA has been superb. Even buying blind you would be unlikely to get a dud box and a good chance of HQ standard. I would say close to 50% chance. 2
Duxnutz Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Can someone explain the difference between CJ, PC and Royal Corona? Been a long time since I've had reg production Bolivar.
JohnS Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Can someone explain the difference between CJ, PC and Royal Corona? Been a long time since I've had reg production Bolivar. Sure...Bolivar Corona Junior is a minuto petit corona vitola 111 mm x 42 ring gauge (Montecristo No. 5 is a similar vitola), Bolivar Petit Corona is a merava petit corona vitola 129 mm x 42 ring gauge (Montecristo No.4 is a similar vitola) and Bolivar Royal Corona is a Robusto vitola 124 mm x 50 ring gauge (Partagas Serie D No.4 is a similar vitola). All three are highly popular marcas of the Bolivar Brand, with Bolivar Belicosos Finos (140 mm x 52 ring gauge pyramid) also highly popular. If you were to rank these cigars in terms of popularity on our forum at the time of writing this post it would be in order: 1) Bolivar Petit Corona 2) Bolivar Belicosos Finos 3) Bolivar Royal Corona 4) Bolivar Corona Junior 1

I would agree with Rob. In the past year, I purchased 2 boxes of BRC...one blind and one HQ via FOH. Both boxes have ULA codes and both are crackers. These have shown up fairly often on the 24:24:72 sales with very nices prices...why buy blind when you can get boxes with known quality for around the same price?
FLB03TT Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 The ULA BRCs are simply fantastic!! Incredible cigar for the price. And smoking very well young. Don't know why anyone would buy blind when you can have a hand picked box at the same price as a blind buy. If you want the VERY best, pay a little more for a PSP box.

Living in Oz we don't get the luxury of buying PSP boxes with any luxury/if at all.
JohnS Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Should have asked for tasting notes, my bad! Sorry Adam...I had assumed that perhaps it was a while since you'd sampled Bolivar, but obviously not long enough to forget marca specifications! As for tasting notes, perhaps others can weigh in, but my recent samplings of these had classic Earth and toasted tobacco, with a hint of white pepper. When Bolivar cigars are 'on' you can get coffee/cocoa notes but more importantly cream, and I profiled this in my last Bolivar Corona Junior.
JohnS Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Yes...I enjoyed it the most in comparison to the BRC and BPC, although I have a 'sweet palate' as you know, so my taste preference is not inclined to Bolivar normally.
aliz388 Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 loving the ULA 14 BRC's...........flavour is full on bolivar goodness however the draw is a bit loose, but the flavour trumps any construction issues.... breezed through 2 boxes on my last one cant keep my hands off em.... Dark choc, earth, leather, and some saltiness...also got some meatiness this is gonna sound strange but almost like a rare steak.....
