madbunny Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 just too good when it counted ,no idea why they spred it wide on the 4th when they were set for the field goal ?
Ken Gargett Posted May 28, 2015 Author Posted May 28, 2015 just too good when it counted ,no idea why they spred it wide on the 4th when they were set for the field goal ? because pearce could not direct traffic. might have played a bit better but he cannot run a team - and gould made it obvious - when it counts. he should have had them in for the first field goal and then controlled for the second. may have gained a lot of ground with his kicks but they were all down slater's throat. in 13 origins, he has come up with three try assists. a lead weight. mind you, thurston attempting that goal was just as dumb and could have stuffed us.
soutso Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 I'm not a fan of Pearce but I wouldn't drop him based on last night. His kicking game was quite good, many right to Slater, though high and dropping short of the tryline, giving NSW time to creep up on him. That's a good result. I would like to see Maloney back in and Pearce at halfback. The Blues did have no direction and Pearce should put his hand up for that. Quite frankly we don't have many halves options. Could have used Luke Lewis off the bench QLD decision to go for goal was baffling. If they kicked for touch with a set of six coming, they looked very good for a try.
