Popular Post fingerburner Posted May 17, 2015 Popular Post Posted May 17, 2015 Stunning, rich toasty aroma. Nosed it unlit for a good ten minutes like a quality whisky. Opening - Perfect draw after barely removing the cap. Spicy, lush, creamy dense smoke. Laden with sweet spices (cinnamon, hints of nutmeg). Mouthfeel akin to creme brulee. Decadence. First third - Settles quickly into balanced stride. Spice subsiding to reveal a not unpleasant mustiness with floral lashings. Bang on medium body and strength. Second third - Woody cedar elements emerge after the first ash falls. Still bang on medium body. Spice now gone. Relatively subdued flavours through the mid way point but totally elegant. Predominantly toasty tobacco yet very captivating. No hints of youthfulness. Final third - Intensity now stepping up. Burnt toffee/caramel wafts coming in waves. Surfs up and it's cranking! Wow. Honeyed sweetness, too. Still nothing to suggest this puppy was rolled within the last six or so months. Outstanding. Burn has been very good despite moments of slight unevenness. Who knows what these will become in time. Exceptional now. Best $69 I spent this weekend, or any weekend for that matter. Bravo Pacific Cigar Company. Destined to be a classic. 15

raymond5737 Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 Who is or was Bushido? Sounds like a Samurai to me.
Jeremy Festa Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Who is or was Bushido? Sounds like a Samurai to me. Close. It defines the "way of the samurai." Basically the life they lead. Honour and discipline etc etc Sent from my iPhone
JohnS Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Who is or was Bushido? Sounds like a Samurai to me. Gregory Mottola authored an article for Cigar Aficionado on April 7th this year which explains this release... Bushido. It's the samurai code of honorable conduct. It's the way of the warrior. But it's also the name of the new Cuban Regional Edition Diplomaticos launching this week through Pacific Cigar Ltd., the distributor of Cuban cigars for the Asia Pacific territory that includes Japan, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Known as a No. 109 in Cuban cigar factories, the Diplomaticos Bushido measures 7 1/4 inches by 50. But what makes the size distinct is its tapered, blunted belicoso head. A long discontinued vitola in the regular-production Cuban portfolio, the 109 is rarely seen and only released intermittently by Habanos S.A. for special projects such as this one. But the Bushido is also a commemorative cigar of sorts. Pacific Cigar told Cigar Insider that it was created to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the very first Japanese citizen to visit Cuba. During the Keicho mission, samurai Hasekura Tsunenaga stopped in Cuba (then part of New Spain) on his way to the Vatican in Rome. (The Diplomaticos Bushido was originally intended for a 2014 release.) Pacific Cigar celebrates the spirit of diplomacy and the code of the samurai with these Diplomaticos Bushidos, which come packaged in a decorative black outer shell designed with an eye-catching samurai motif. But they won't come cheap.
Hoepssa Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 It seems Asia Pacific retailer (base in HK) cares nothing for Korean smokers, they must hate this name for a REs lol
Hiroshiro Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Yea I'm sure they are not Happy with the Japanese Name on these. Not so much in Hong Kong or Taiwan but Mainland China must be throwing a fit. Too bad these were not named Regional Japan as China had Regionals already. And I'm sure as the review says that these are going to be enjoyed thoroughly! 1
