Get the best accountant you can afford, one who has very good relations (direct contact) with the ATO.

In the US we know all to well how the power of the audit can be used against business. I would be willing to put money on the fact Rob's business is being targeted. It's a business that provides a product his government is trying to eliminate. Remember, Al Capone wasn't sent to prison for murder - it was tax fraud and evasion.

Call an accountant to fix it for you. I "forgot" to file for 3 yrs once. Left it to my accountant to sort through it... and came out $17k better off.

My previous accountant screwed up 6 years of accounts. Audit. Handed all files to Artie. 4 months work. $217,000 owing to us and paid by the ATO.

To clarify, I was not inferring any funny math by Rob and crew. You are obviously honest, maybe to a fault, and any successful business needs an excellent accountant. Artie deserves all of our thanks for helping to keep you guys inline with the ATO. My point, which you restated, is that your business is "scrutinized" because of the products that you sell. And furthermore, tax issues would be a great "reason" for the government to come in and shut down the best cigar business in the world because they don't approve of the product you sell.

Yes, I should have emphasised, get a good accountant, not just any run of the mill classifieds ad accountant.
