Cornell Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Makes you think alot about a lot of things. One of them being what does the US do with the billions spent on research? Does the US have a true medical care or rather a disease management system? http://www.wired.com/2015/05/cimavax-roswell-park-cancer-institute/ 2

Zigatoh Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 To be fair, it's just yet another of the many many substances being trialled for treating cancer, and as the results of the phase 2 trial suggest, and as the report states, it's not a game changer at the moment - but anything showing promise like this needs investigating. The worst part of the whole thing that I have read about is the huge costs involved in bringing these things to trial at all, even more so if the substance is naturally occurring such as Curcumin (an extract of Turmeric) as there are initially massive costs to allow the substance to be called a drug or medicine before trials can even begin! Check this for example - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drug_development Edit - Further information here - http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/our-research/our-research-by-cancer-subject/our-research-on-cancer-drugs Quoted cost of more than £1Billion and 10 years to develop a new drug, and around 120 new cancer drugs brought to trial so far, and that's just CRUK!
Orion21 Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 I watched an episode of the HBO show VICE about the treatment of cancer using genetically modified virus. The virus is modified to only search out specific cancer cells to use for reproduction and leave health cells alone. It's a pretty amazing development. 1

teamrandr Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 The truth is America profits off death and disease 1
Diamondog Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Heard a doctor talking about promising treatment coming - so my understanding is we all have cancer cells and they are either/become active or are inactive....anyways they were talking about people that the cancer cells become active the immune system doesn't recognize the "invasion" and don't "turn on" to fight the cancer and promising treat is infecting the cancer cells with other viruses such as measles so white blood cells get turned on to the "invasion" to fight and kill all the cells...
bugg4672 Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 @teamrandr You said it man, if someone has something the American Government doesn't, then the American Government wants it. Not to help people but to PROFIT from it.

Does the US have a true medical care or rather a disease management system?... If you think objectively about it, what kind of company would have the facilities, funds and expertise to develope a miracle vaccine? Pharmaceuticals. Incidentally, pharmaceutical companies also make billions - maybe even trillions of profit per year from selling drugs and supplements. Would they want to release such a vaccine? Hmmm...
CigarDarr111 Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Just recently watch the latest episode of Vice on HBO, the episode was about cancer and how doctors have been doing experimental surgeries and introducing viruses like rabies into the tumors. There was documented cases were prostitutes that lived in squalor conditions were giving vaccines for rabies, these prostitutes also happened to have cervical cancer from "occupational hazards". What doctors had noticed that vaccine for rabies had put the cancer into remission fighting off the cancer. Rabies is now just one of many types of viruses along with HIV that doctors are furthering these experiments with.
