None of them are even a half way decent value anymore at this point, if you ask me. A lot of them went to NAS. I recommend you try the ***** from the barrel. At 40ish euros for 0.5l not a bargain but very tasty. Problem is to find it in US :(

Yes, agreed. One of my 'go-to' whiskies...love it!

How is the Nika, worth the coin?

I want to start getting into Japanese whisky but I don't know where to start.

It depends - original RRP, yes. Gouged up RRP, no.

What others have commented, recommend the ***** Whisky from the Barrel as a decent and relatively well priced Japanese whisky to start off.

Elijah craig 12 with a perdomo lot 23 maduro, very nice. This bourbon took 7 months to come around and open up. I get intense butterscotch, spice, honey, brown sugar, dried fruits. Very rich with a medium long finish.

Cascina Roera San Martino Barbera D'Asti Superiore 2005:

Love this producer - smoothness of age, but retains underlying brightness and fruit of the varietal and region. Slightly prunish which I enjoy. Perhaps on the verge of being past it, but great for me :)

Going through some Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin, and sharing it with valued cigar friends, has been very satisfying!

Finally, a Negroni (or two) with some unique Four Pillars Spice Negroni Gin!
