sengjc Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 How was it sengjc? Spicy. Intense wine flavour. Dry yet fruity. If you like sherry oak matured whisky, this will appeal to you. 1
puro Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Glenmorangie Quinta ruban and diesel unholy cocktail
sengjc Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Been a busy week. Having a dollop of Laphroaig 18 Year Old. I can feel the onset of a cold, perhaps this will boost my vitality. 3
sastrooper Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 One day, I will try some of this world famous Napa Valley cabernet and see how it ranks with the Australian and French equivalents... one day... If you can find this ... One of the best wines ive drunk to date, amazing wine, with i must admit a sky high price though. Nevertheless as good as any first growth and the best aust has to offer. The ronnefeld rd wasnt bad either hahah 2

scap99 Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 After walking the dog on a brisk evening decided on some Four Roses to warm me up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk That is a phenomenal single barrel. Tonight I will likely have another healthy pour of Walking Stick.
Easttide Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 After walking the dog on a brisk evening decided on some Four Roses to warm me up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Nothing quite as soothing as the smooth burn of some good bourbon. 2
sengjc Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Been down with a cold in the past week and have been busy at work. Since I am feeling better today, I am having a tot of Auchentoshan Three Wood with a cigar. Comfort food. 1
srbbones Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Any Minnesotans (or others) going to Whiskey On Ice in downtown Minneapolis tomorrow: I will be the big 6'4" fellow in jeans and a red long sleeved polo shirt. Say hi if you see me

Colt45 Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Perticaia Umbria Rosso - nice enough, but the merlot kills it for me.
scap99 Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Two glasses of Walking Stick single barrel. Too lazy to pour a third. But sure feel like I could use the pain killing effect.
sengjc Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Tasted these while at the local bottleshop earlier today: the Glenlivet Nadurra First Fill and the Glendronach Cask Strength Batch 4. Most impressed by the Glenlivet, bright, fresh, clean, sweet and honeyed with good length. Well balanced, the malt takes centre stage with the wood influence providing the backup and body. Lacks the depth and complexity of the discontinued age statement bottlings but a very worthy release in its own right. The Glendronach, while possessing more depth, richness and complexity from the sherry oak maturation lacks the brightness and finesse that I enjoyed in the Glenlivet. Wood character is more pronounced and it could do with a little more integration between the wood and malt. Still, a good release that is enjoyable. 1
JohnS Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Manhattan cocktail with Rittenhouse Rye whiskey. This was superb. I've tried this cocktail with Bourbon and Canadian whiskies, but I think Rye is my favourite. 2 parts rosso vermouth to 5 parts rye whiskey, with a dash or two of Angostura bitters. Casino Cocktail, the first time I've made this and it was quite good. 2 ounces of Gin, 1/4 oz of Maraschino liqueur, 1/4 oz of lemon juice and 3 dashes of Regans' Orange Bitters. The maraschino cherry garnish really completed this drink. 1
sengjc Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 which was the winner? The Glenlivet is preferred. 1
dangolf18 Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Pappy 15 in my glass. Wow, definitely the best bourbon I've had. $200-$300 good, not $800 good though. Glad I got to finally try some. A more refined version of Weller 12 to be honest and somewhat like Bookers. Oak, sweet cinnamon, vanilla, some dark chocolate. Complex and so balanced. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
spicycorona Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 It's no slouch. I'd put the price point slightly lower than where you did, as far as the product value in direct comparison. Unfortunately the market right now doesn't make sense. Then again I'm speaking of a bottle I had probably 5 years ago. Interesting to see if there is much difference.
Guest Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Lagavulin 12, 2014 edition. Bloody brilliant. Serge. Valentin was 100% right with his review. I'll buy some more bottles while they're still available.
