JohnS Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Before dinner. Jim McEwan's Celtic Heartlands Girvan 42 Year Old Single Grain (Lowlands) Scotch Whisky (around $US300 to $US350) in a Riedel Single Malt Whisky glass before dinner? Now, that is class! I'd like to know what was followed-up for dinner! Edit: Dinner was lobster? I searched through the forum tonight... http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=119327&p=656703 2
sengjc Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Some Hakushu while enjoying the cool breeze outside after dinner. 2
Popular Post JohnS Posted January 2, 2016 Popular Post Posted January 2, 2016 End-of-year holiday time gives one such a wonderful opportunity to catch-up with friends and share drinks. Below are some of what I've recently been enjoying... 1) Ron Zacapa Centario 23 Old-Fashioned Cocktail 2) Hakushu Japanese single malt whisky (Thanks Will!) 3) Hennessy VSOP Cognac (One of my staple drinks) 4) Wild Turkey 101 Old-Fashioned Cocktail (Ok, less sweet than the Ron Zacapa variety, but just as enjoyable!) 5) Japanese Slipper (One of my wife's favourite drinks) 6) Vodka Martini (Usually have Gin martinis, but I needed an excuse to enjoy the Spanish Olives!) 5

SipIt Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 2) Hakushu Japanese single malt whisky (Thanks Will!) 2015-12-13 17.44.37.jpg How do you like this one? I just got a bottle and really enjoy it.
Surucipe Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Benromach 10 - Very nice whisky, makes me want to open and try the CS but have to say that this standard strength really holds its own as well. 2

There's a dedicated thread on Japanese whiskies in this sub-forum and quite a bit of love for them in this thread. Yes, I enjoyed this whisky very much. It's definitely not as peaty/salty as an Islay malt whisky and more oaky than a blended Japanese whisky such as Hibiki (which I similarly adore). I especially enjoyed the subtle 'smoky' aftertaste to this whisky. 1

I love the islay malts, but I like having a variety on hand. 1

SipIt Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 I love wine, but by no means do I know a ton about it. I just listen to the lady at the shop and she did a good job with this one. Edit: apparently I don't know how to post a pic. Until then, it's Pine Ridge Nappa Valley Cab 2012. <a href="http://s1276.photobucket.com/user/Jengelmeier/media/SF/20160109_182238_zpsp5kbvfck.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/y472/Jengelmeier/SF/20160109_182238_zpsp5kbvfck.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20160109_182238_zpsp5kbvfck.jpg"/></a>

Camshaft83 Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 I had a glass of Highland Park Odin last night thanks to a great friend. I wish the 18 tasted like it instead of a complete let down. Sent via my Note 2
