sengjc Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Redbreast 12 Year Old. Some after dinner rest and relaxation.
sengjc Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 The last of the Old Weller Antique 107. A spicy bourbon to go with a spicy cigar. 1
sengjc Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 A well aged Arturo Fuente Hemingway Signature from the stockpile. These just seem to get better and better developing a suave mellowness while retaining all the flavour intensity (Sean Connery?). Paired with the last of the Redbreast 12 Year Old.
dangolf18 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Solid stuff but not mind blowing. I think I prefer the 12. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
spicycorona Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 It's fallen since it's introduction to the mass produced line. But would say different than the 12.
JamesNYC Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Solid stuff but not mind blowing. I think I prefer the 12. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I've been told by a Brand Ambassador that they are aged in casks from Cuba, and that they call it "Caribbean" to get around the embargo. One of my favorite distilleries, but not my favorite expression.
sengjc Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 A dollop of Smooth Ambler Old Scout 7 Year Old Rye Whiskey. Sweet nose on this one with freshly varnished wood, a very bourbony rye. Starts smooth and finishes long. Quite a bit of alcoholic heat and some nasal burn.

sengjc Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Good looking smoke. Any good? I like the blend, creamy mouthfeel, cedar and spice.
Surucipe Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Longrow Peated - Why they call this peated is beyond me, no peat and no smoke at all in my opinion. Disappointing dram, hopefully just a dud bottle. Added some Lagavulin 12yo to it - much better! 1
JamesNYC Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 My partner's son, who works for us, just got engaged. Glen Grant is one of his favorite distilleries, so I went to my favorite whisky store in Manhattan (Park Avenue Liquors) and picked up a nice bottle. I'm keeping this at the office- I told him we will drink from it whenever he wants until he is married (looks like September) and I'll buy replacements as necessary. Nice dram, familiar Glen Grant flavor profile, not as Sherried as some others I've had, which you can tell from the lighter color (aged 17 years one would think it would be darker). Slightly astringent, hints of vanilla, not too strong (43%), a drop of water didn't really make that much difference in the flavors. 1
JohnS Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 They look similar but one of these below is a Ron Zacapa Centenario Solera 23 glass of rum and the other is a humble Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 glass of Tennessee whiskey. 1
sengjc Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Some Benriach Solstice 2nd Edition - a heavily peated 17 Year Old Speysider that was finished in port casks. A rather meaty, peaty malt that has balanced sweetness and a touch of salt. Despite being described as being heavily peated, it is quite tame. I can imagine those accustomed to the peaty Islay style will find this lacking in intensity, even bland and a little mild. Finishes a little short but with a peaty, mineral lull that is quite pleasant. An easy drinking malt that can probably be paired with a hearty chargrilled steak. 1
sengjc Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 A slosh of Hakushu Distillers Reserve. Easy going smoke with an easy going malt this cool spring night.
sengjc Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Some Benriach 16 Year Old Sauternes Cask Finish.
sengjc Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 The last of the Benriach 16 Year Old Sauternes Cask Finished.
sengjc Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Nice. Is that at W&A? Boilermaker House, then W&A.
sengjc Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Glenlivet the Guardians Chapter with a Davidoff Puro d'Oro Notables. After 4 years or so of TLC & humidor time, they are really starting to come around. 1
dangolf18 Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 First time trying this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
fokker4me Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Hand-selected ER10 single barrel. Freakin' fantastic stuff. Down to my last two bottles. http://images.tapatalk- cdn.com/15/10/13/28f5c62bb4bb1c2dfcd5873e6a50c55d.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk How much different it the private barrel vs. the standard 10 year?
fokker4me Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 A SAOS 9 year CS rye. Private bottling from Astor Wines of NY.
