StingMeadery Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Tonight I'm drinking Ballantine's 17yo blend, awarded Scotch Whisky of the year 2013 by Jim Murray's Whisky Bible. Not sure it quite lives up to that billing, but it is delicious; mellow, complex and great valueTry the Ballantines 30 it used to be my favourite when I was about 19....brings back fond memories. We used to drink it and Chivas Regal Royal Salute mixed with Classic dry lemonade and ice...by the case It was the pinnacle of young of Bogun sophistication! (and I drove a mint VG Valliant) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
JohnS Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Blair Athol 25 yo (59.5%, La Maison du Whisky). I got this as a sampler, it had beautiful floral notes and slight fruity notes. A wonderful drink! 2

StingMeadery Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Mortlach "Special Strength" (new duty free distillery bottling) Surprisingly not the epic quality of Mortlach I'm used to as we estimate it's a 10 year old (no age statement) Still very good for a 10 year old and especially for the price point. sengjc Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 A generous slosh of Bunnahabhain Darach Ur and a stogie after dinner. It's been a long weekend of work, TGIF.

sengjc Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Thoughts on the Yoichi, Seng?Clean sweet but a little hot. Vanilla and coconut tinged Xmas cake.Prefer the Macallan Cask Strength over this but only just by a nose whisker. The Ardmore loses out from the sulphuric/butyl nose although it improves with time in the glass - loses the sulphur.
sengjc Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 After a day out, it's good to relax with a smoke and a drink: Para Japon by La Aurora and some Ardbeg Ten. The dry profile of the smoke complements the ashy profile of the malt and brings out the sweetness in the drink. 1
