SofaKing
Enjoying a mystery stick from a recent pass and some Zaya rum neat with a vanilla bean as a stirring stick. Really brings out some flavor surprisingly...wife is making home made cake and I decided to experiment and use the scraped bean she used.
TM-US
Broke out some unusual bottles for a friend's birthday. 1989 Bowmore 16 in bourbon casks and a 2004 bottled Ardbeg Uigeadail. Very interesting, both of them. The Bowmore didn't taste anything like Bowmore- fruity like Juicy Fruit gum, but with an odd, kind of chalky, salty finish. Very good, but a bit odd. The 2004 Ardbeg was awesome- the heavy sherry influence that I've read about in older bottles of this stuff is definitely true. The ride ended in about 2010, from what I read. This stuff is heavily sherried and has a wonderful burnt caramel aroma and finish. I'm glad I stocked up. The current bottling is much thinner in taste and the sherry influence is not as strong.
