Mate Adam shared this in Singapore with me. Bloody excellent and something I haven't had before.

Only 2 years aged in the Texas sun?  You have to try it to believe it.

Way too young but still hit the spot

the last one was a different vintage?

Last one was a 2005, but this 2006 has a fuller body. Interesting how just one year apart there is quite a noticeable difference.

Never had the 79 Clos du Val but still remember the 97’s I enjoyed.

i remember the 79 clos du val. we saw a lot of the wines from clos du val around then and early 80s (i had just started getting interested in wine). they had the family link with taltarni, one of our more exciting wineries at the time. and, of course, Lafite.

for those marginally younger than myself, it is a great story. the winemaker at Lafite, andre portet, thought that there was a heap of potential in both the Napa and Australia (in this case, the Yarra), so he encouraged his two sons to head out, one each. Dominique came to the yarra and set up taltarni. Bernard went to napa and founded clos du val. they would work together and the wines of each were sent across the pond. hence, we saw a lot of clos du val and they saw taltarni. Dominique was a lovely guy and very good winemaker. around 2000, he left taltarni and set up his own little eponymous operation, also in the yarra. no idea if Bernard stayed with clos du val.

Well that was a good day. Frozen mojitos before dinner, great wine with dinner and then a really enjoyable rum and cognac with Sir Winnies.

I rarely have burgs, and their Clos des Epeneaux is a very rare treat for me. This was fresh and a little linear, "nice", but I have no frame of reference for the vintage or their Fremiets generally.

Their Pommard is fantastic!! I've had it a number of times in the EU, but have never been able to find it in my area.

Yes, heavy rose color, very fruit forward wine and extremely quaffable!

I would put Tavel on the "king of rose's" list.
