Popular Post JohnS Posted April 22, 2021 Popular Post Posted April 22, 2021 In order, a Blanton's Bourbon Old-Fashioned and a Rittenhouse Rye Old-Fashioned. What can one say? The bourbon-based one is sweeter, yes, but they're equally as good as each other. It was a nice day indeed! 7
Popular Post Ken Gargett Posted April 22, 2021 Popular Post Posted April 22, 2021 a tasting of some samples today. done the first five - Johann's Garden 18 (best JG i've seen), Keyneton, Tappa Pass, Hill of Roses and Mt Edelstone. stunning collection. still have the Hill of Grace to go. after which, i need to get on to some rums, especially this one. can't believe it arrived as a sample. not that i am complaining. 7

Nice! How is the Hill of Roses? I have been eyeing the Marble Angel - any experience/thoughts on that?

Popular Post SirVantes Posted April 25, 2021 Popular Post Posted April 25, 2021 Japanese whisky (really). The first release from Mars’ new Tsunuki distillery. Very impressive, creamy quince and summer fruits. Ridge Monte Bello 2000. Magic. 6
RichG Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 Made these Diplomatico Rum, Orange/Lemon, Campari and Ginger Ale cocktails this weekend. I really enjoyed these, and will have them again on a warm sunny day in the near future. https://foodism.co.uk/recipes/diplomatico-rum-ensemble-cocktail/

Popular Post RicoIsHere Posted June 4, 2021 Popular Post Posted June 4, 2021 Trying the heavily scorched Ardbeg with a Partagas Capitol. This should be interesting because both are very spicy and heavy bodied. 5

We were in luck with all 3. The Krug was appley, yeasty and very rich on the palate, with just enough acidity to carry it. This was a rare foray outside of our group's blanc de blancs devotion, and there was a comment of "Very nice. But this is not champagne." The Mouton was tobacco, cedar, dark fruit, and a hint of camphor. It was not as oaky and muscular as I remember from a couple of past bottles, but so much the better for it. The Latour was the wine of the night. All cedar, graphite and fine-sanded tannin and sweet fruit. Made the Mouton almost seem a little green by comparison. Such a joy to be pleasantly surprised by a wine from a poor vintage. 1
