Popular Post SirVantes Posted May 7, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 7, 2020 A bottle from one of my trips to Nelson, on NZ’s South Island. Back when you could still bung half a dozen bottles in your hand carry. The winemaker was a memorable “character”, with a PhD in Mathematics, and a believer in tannin in all his reds, including Pinot. I remember the licence plate on his ute parked beside his garage/cellar was TANN1N. He sadly passed on in 2018. This had great fruit concentration on the nose, and indeed more powdery tannins than I’d associate with Pinot. But it works. Vale, Dave Glover. 5

I'd take it over their flagship Bric del Fiasc, and the flashy/brassy Rocche dell'Annunziata. The Cannubi seems to take the barrique treatment particularly well, without the fruit perfume being compromised and the 2004 is in a great state right now. 1

Well, at least '16 is the latest "dream vintage" so even the langhe should be pleasing. You can't expect sympathy after that Henschke extravaganza you just had.

Bill Hayes Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 A local Mornington Peninsula pinot. Light, lively and floral/fruit driven without heavy tannins. It was a surprisingly good match with a JL#2. I enjoyed two glasses before the cigar and then one during and two more after. 3
