I pick my cigars on the premise of work and pleasure. The two are not mutually exclusive obviously lmao.gif

I define work cigars as those that I smoke to review (how they are progressing) and new stock I have not tried or have not been around for some time. Generally I will review a cigar daily (excluding weekends). I work out the cigars to revisit/review on Sunday afernoons for the forthcoming week. I select those cigars Monday morning and set them aside.

Selecting cigars for pleasure is a akin to selecting a club from your golf bag. How much time do I have, what is the temperature outside? (hot day, lighter cigars, colder days fuller bodied cigars). What is my mood? If I have to right a report or do some research, then I tend toward a long skinny. Fun with mates on the deck? fuller bodied cigars normally Corona Extra or Petit Corona. Prepping Sunday afternoons, Robusto time as I normally prep for 90 minutes and it sees me through. Gut/heart feel plays a big part.

And if he is doing a review with Ken he picks one that has a high probability of eliciting critical commentary from ken.

Or eliciting a giggle fest from El Prez. Ken's just got his number!!!

will El Prez ever do reviews with someone other than Ken ? I always liked Smithy better than Ken in the reviews. Ken knows wine and I don't believe he has true cigar expertise like Rob. Just Saying !!!

Thems fighting words :P

Half the fun of an FOH reveiw is Ken's critical eye and pallet. Also, its best when paired with Ken's ample supply of alcohol. More alcohol equals more color commentary, and from what I understand more editting. peace.gif Of course some of the best include the three muskateers Rob, Ken and Smithy. Lots of zingers usually at Robs expense. How does a hangover and KFC affect cigar selection?

Regards,

Doug

Thanks for providing some insight!

I'd be more interested to know whether you personally store away boxes of cigars you like for aging/collecting? Do you keep your personal supply with the business wares or do you have some elaborate set-up like the rest of us at home?

Also, does the age old adage of never get high on your own supply come into play? ;)
