NYC Cigar Lounges

Recommended Posts

Next week I will be heading to NYC for my yearly spring/birthday pilgrimage. I wanted to know if there was any new or recommended cigar lounges that I might have missed. I am still sad my go to spot, Velvet lounge, closed down. BYOB and BYOC it was amazing but also cost me a Dupont lighter in a drunken evening with locals...

I have been to:

Circa Tabac

Bar & Books (I like the Hudson one)

Davidoff

Carnagie

Cigar Inn (during the day it is cool as it isn't too packed)

I am open to suggestions and advice.

Also, I doubt I will have time to meet up with anyone this time around as Eve got us on a pretty tight museums and galleries schedules party.gif

Much obliged

I have been to Nat Sherman but just in and out, I haven't spent time there enough yet. I will try to this time around.

definitely check out nat sherman as mentioned above. also if you want a more lounge-y vibe with a full bar and cute cocktail waitresses, I would recommend Merchants Cigar Bar.

Thanks for the rec, looks pretty cool!

Club Macanudo is a must! and if you email ahead and are willing to pay $150 for a weekend pass, The grand Havana Room is also a must.

Cheers!

Soho Cigar is a nice spot

Nat Shermans is a must

Cigar Inn is really good, but it does get busy

Barkley Rex is a great spot that have really good house rolls

De La Concha is a good spot as its close to 5th avenue if the missus wants to go shopping

If you're near Brooklyn, Daimantes has a nice back room kind of charm to it

Grand Havana room is great, but its members only last time I checked, and membership is EXPENSIVE. No day passes either

Macundo Lounge is nice but they have a pretty strict dress code, so make sure you pack a collard shirt

Great write up!

Just checked Soho Cigar and it is/was called Circa Tabac. I have been there and indeed it is quite nice.

Diamantes has been recommended to me as well and I think I will hit it up

Thank you sir

The gran havana room looks great but I am not looking to pay that kind of money to smoke. I really appreciate the offer tho. Maybe one day I will shell it out lol

Grand Havana, If you email ahead and tell them you are from out of town, they have weekend passes only they'll sell for $150. I just got back from NYC like 2 weeks ago.

Wish they'd offered that when I was there back in 2012

There's a fair few posts around here on places to smoke in the City, most covered here again.

My regulars when in town are Merchants and CT/Soho. Did get to GHR one time when Smokey Mo was in town posing as a member.

Do enjoy B&B Hudson as well although it's quite tight when busy but a great deal on Whiskey Tuesdays!

Nice to have so many good options isn't it? Can't say that for too many places anymore. (In the U.S that is) Although there was a recent post on ridiculous new regulations from someone up in Canada I believe.

Soho/Cica Tabac is the one I like best. Isnt there a whole meetup happening soon? I have to go look at the other thread, but I think the guys wanted to go to Circas Tabac.

Yeh I think you suggested this place in the regional forum but no set dates decided yet

I heard and read about a new joint Sirgar Bar NYC. From the instagram pics it looks like its in a high rise buliding with sprawling views of NYC. Doesn't look to be a snooty joint either. I for one would love to enjoy a cigar and a drink with views overlookin NYC :)

Found Sir Gar Bar on Yelp. Looks like a ground-level shop in Queens. Pretty good reviews.

The high-rise you mentioned is probably Grand Havana Room.

Weather permitting I smoke at Aretsky’s Patroon at their roof top bar. Apparently the owners are cigar smokers themselves. There are a few other rooftops as well. I thought I remember reading Nat Sherman was doing something via one of the hotels rooftops as well. Sorry I don't remember the other hotel names but there are at least 3-4 others where its acceptable to smoke cigars outside.

I like de la Concha

De La Concha is now a Davidoff store! Located on 6th Avenue between 56 & 57 St. Beautifully re-done.

SirGar is about 7 months old and located in Flushing, Queens. Nice spot but tough to get to if you are not driving!

Blew Smoke Cigar Room (593 Washington Ave) is a stones throw from the Barclay Center in Brooklyn and has a nice ambiance. Friendly atmosphere. BYOB. Selection is okay mostly boutique brands.

There is also another lounge in Flushing, I think it's called Tobacco Park/Plaza. Can't remember exactly have a father store on Long Island. Good selection but it's best to drive!

If you're uptown there is Papa Juan's located on Broadway and 139/140th Street.

Also Cigar Inn has a second location on 73rd St between 1st & 2nd Ave. Cute waitresses, less busier than the 52nd/2nd Ave location but great selection.

Hope this helps!

Nat Sherman's is a must. Great staff, and the entire house lines I've had have been awesome. I recommend the Timeless, the 1930, and the Metropolitan Maduro.

I like Circa Tabac/ Soho cigar for low-key, but their bar selection is not very good. Bar and Books has the best bar selection.

Can you BYOB to Cigar Inn?

Cigar Inn is BYOB - you need to buy their smokes
