headstand Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 What weird flavours have you had while smoking? I was smoking a cheap NC last night (EPC Cardinal Maduro 52) Not a bad smoke, just one that comes and goes and you pay no attention too. Anyway I digress.. In the last 3rd i pick it up, too a long draw and BAM! Had the most intense unmistakable Kalamata Olive flavour. Blew me away, complete shock. I do quite like olives but was a very strange phenomenon. Tomato paste on rare occasions. Not so pleasant for me, but as I recall there has only been one time when it dominated to the point of pitching the cigar.

... Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Thanks for sharing Mike. If my memory is accurate (rarely is), Maplepie had also written about the subject last year. Always interesting to appreciate reality through facts
shlomo Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 I've a total of 5 boxes. 2 are bad to my taste and the other 3, MOB Nov 14, are fantastic. You may follow my posts more than I do myself but I do not recall raving about how great my cigars are. Maybe you can refresh my memory. Dont really care that much man....just noticed a handful of your posts ranting and raving about Epi 2 is all.
Cigar Surgeon Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Got peanut butter out of an Alec Bradley Filthy Hooligan (original release)/
deejank Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 what do you guys consider another name for the permanent marker smell you get when you retrohale? i find this to be found in more nicaraguan than dominican and I just tasted/smelled it the other day in a psd4. I actually really enjoy this flavor and wondering if i'm just not profiling it correctly so i would like to know what other names you guys call this "permanent marker" smell when you retrohale.
suggs Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I've gotten very strong mint flavors on a couple of NCs. As far as CCs go, the weirdest flavor I've gotten was gasoline...and that cigar was an entirely different beast.
TomF Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I had that soapy violet flavor in a few cigars from a recent 50 cab of Partagas Shorts EAG ABR14. Overpowering and not pleasant. I experienced this when I smoked them ROTT. Since then they've smoothed out and that flavor is still there but has receded and has become a virtue.
moryc Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I picked up a smoked sausage once in a Punch Coronation. Could that just be the Polish in me
archosaur Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Pink bubble gum once, out of Trinidad Robusto T circa 2010. Two or three unmistakeable puffs, and gone.

My guess at the time was that it was too wet as the others tasted good after some rest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
suggs Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 New oddity: I'm smoking a Punch Punch from 2012 and I've gotten a kind of "toilet-y" nuttiness (insert joke here)...not the kind of ammonia flavor from a cigar's "sick period," just very very strange.
TCContender Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Smoked a Flor de Las Antillas last week tasted and smelled like burned hair. It smelled like I got too close to the grill flipping steaks. I think one of the torcedoras lost part of her weave in that toro.

I think one of the torcedoras lost part of her weave in that toro. I've tried 2 of them and haven't got the flavour. But I haven't really got much flavour from them at all. Found them very boring and dull. Wind tunnels too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
SUMAIL Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I have tasted Thrills bubblegum(soap) off of Monte 2s and 3s.
Surucipe Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Mint recently in an ERDM. It not only tasted like it but it had that minty coolness to it too. I've also had perfume from a box Hoyo du Prince before but it went away after some time. and recently from a single Monte #4 I also had that minty taste and coolness recently but in a BHK 52. Only had it in 1 cigar from that box.
RockemSockem Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Soap. The very first RASS I've ever smoked was soapy detergent flavored. Tossed it after an inch with no improvement. That was also the last RASS I smoked. I know it's most likely just a bad sample and poor luck on my part, but I just have no plan to try it again. I just put in a search for "soapy" and found your post. I've experienced this several times in the past. I'm smoking a P2 (ULA JUN 14) and I'm getting that soapy taste again. I can't remember the other cigars I've tasted this with. Tell me this, when you put down the RASS and picked up something else, did you get any soapy with the next cigar or was it fine?

Later on I did buy another box of RASS from the host and it was fine.
