First from a box of HQ from the Czars team. Mother in law visited on Easter Sunday so around 6 I took to the terrace for an hour or so "me" time. The wind had died down and looking over the valley into Bratislava and the castle below a peaceful late evening sun bathed the woods and buildings with delightful golden and pink hue. Now for the Famosos.

Pre Light: I so want this cigar to be good as it looks and smells incredible. A shiny dark brown coloured oily wrapper, slightly veiny (is this a real word?) with a deep aroma of what I can only describe as hot dark chocolate. The draw is quite firm and a little worrying initially.

First third: It is tasting just as it smells, it is a dark chocolate mocha, slightly sweet with a touch of salt on the lips. Retrohale is the same, no harshness or pepper. Burn is a little uneven and smoke volume could be greater. So far so good.

Paired this cigar with a bottle of Kras new age lager, which is some hipster Slovak fashion beer, selected purely on the basis that it was all I had in the house (schoolboy error).

Second third: flavours still the same, chocolate mocha. No hint of youth, incredible. Ash held for an inch and half untill I tapped it off. It is definitely a Robaina, the DNA is clear but it is so rich. Draw has opened out and plenty of smoke now. Brilliant.

Final third: no great change, the same wonderful flavours with perhaps a hint of ceder. The great thing for me is that there is no harsh smokey taste at all, as a former cigarette smoker of 20 years the last thing I want in a cigar is that bitter ash taste, this cigar has none. The cigar does not get even slightly hot until the very last.

Conclusion: I put down this Famosos after 60 minutes of pure cigar pleasure. I have only been smoking cigars 2 or 3 years so by no means would I class myself an expert in any way. If I compare this cigar to many others I have smoked it gave me everything I want from this hobby. When reading the reviews of others I worry that my palette is not nuanced enough to pick up the different flavours that others see, I also worry that a la "Field of Dreams" if you want them they will come, a self fulfilling prophecy that I should taste flavour "x" in this cigar therefore subconsciously I will. Not for me here with the VR Famosos, what I saw was what I got and bloody hell it was great, no mistaking any of the flavours in this cigar. No idea of a score out of 100 or ageing potential ( I don't profess to have that skill) all I know is I bought these to smoke, they are great and smoke them I will! Thanks for reading if you got this far.

Good on you, Webbo! It looks like that VR Famoso settled nicely, judging by the even burn and the solid ash in the last image. Nice view from your balcony too...can you just see Austria from there?

That's what it's all about, great is great no matter what you taste if you enjoy it! Great review, thanks for sharing!
