I'll start off by noting that I haven't written many reviews (my first here) and they are usually short and sweet. But in the spirit of the Easter weekend reviews, I thought I would try my hand.

Pre-Light Appearance and Draw: Fantastic look and perfect draw. Notes of sweet tobacco. I dry boxed this cigar for 48 hrs.

First Third: I picked up flavors of cherry, chocolate, and toasted tobacco. Not overpowering but complex and smooth.

Second Third: The R&J Churchill seemed to lose some steam in the second third. Primary notes of toasted tobacco and wood. Nothing off putting just wish the cherry and chocolate were still intermingling. The burn got a bit off and a few touch ups were needed...nothing that impacted the overall experience.

Final Third: More of the same to start the final third. Hints of cherry and cocoa pop in and out but are not overly developed.

I could see a few more years making these incredible. At this point, I would rate it an 89 - 90

Nice first review Dan. You know, I believe I picked up a six-pack sampler of RyJ Churchills in January this year and have sampled one (and given another to my brother-in-law). I also had to re-light it a few times, picked up the cherry and chocolate notes as well as the toasted tobacco, and concluded they needed rest awhile like you did!

cheers,

John.

Dan, good review. How long did the smoke last. Funny we all suppose to have lots of time over Easter weekend, and I think your the first review of a Churchill. I wimped out and smoked a Monte PE.

Great minds think alike John :). This cigar came from a six pack that I picked up from a late January 24:24 as well.

The R&J Exhibicion No. 4 (POU JUN 13) that I had the day before was definitely a notch above, but it also has an additional year of age.

Thanks stunod. The cigar lasted about 1 hr 45 mins (meant to include that in the review). I typically smoke Robusto or Corona Gordas so this was a change of pace for me. Glad I took the time though.
