joeypots Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 All things being equal, which box of Siglo VI compared to which box of CORO? Once people start to through up specific examples of cigars by box code and date we are into a discussion of the differences between specific cigars. How about this. What do you prefer, a 2004 CORO or Siglo VI? Thats a question I'd like to throughly research before I gave an answer!
FLB03TT Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 It's a very close race, with CORO ahead by a nose coming around the last turn... 1
JohnS Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Anybody have one of the MUO MAY 14 COROs yet? I had one last month. An outstanding cigar for its age. I too am hiding the rest.
Mattygukas Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Its been a while since I had a VI but I have had more than a few of the CoRos and they have been very good over the last few years. I received a box with a code of ETP Sep 2015. I was a little worried since it was purchased blind...I tasted the first one a few weeks ago with only 6 months on them and it was great already. Totally sick performance from a 6 month old CoRo. I hope that means they get even better with age but I can say that the VI has tough competition!
asmartbull Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 I don't think it is either, or.....Imho they are 2 Totally different cigars. If we were going to make comparisons, it should be the ESPY and sign VI " With your shield, or on it"...
RijkdeGooier Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Early 90's CoRo trumps all Siglo's for me. In general I prefer Linea Classica over 1492.
zeedubbya Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 If I do a price vs value line of thinking on this topic the CORO wins for me, but if price didn't matter I would choose the Siglo VI. One of the best cigars I've ever had came from a recent 10 box of Siglo VI. In fact I would likely spend all the $$ I have to have Siglo VI from this code. I can't remember which one it was now, but runs in my mind it was a late 2014 or early 2015--it was the ARG 10s box like Rob mentioned in his 2015 top cigars. They were stunning wish I had more. EDIT: ARG JUL15--wow I smoked those quick, only have 1 left.
Randolph Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 I would say most certainly the Cohiba Robustos. I have about half a box of May 14 and they are divine. I've had people come up to me and ask me what I'm smoking while commenting the aroma is beautiful...albeit this was on a cruise ship. I also have a box worth of June 2015 sitting and resting in a special lockable humidor allocated only to long termers. The June 2015 was quite a mongrel (I just love that saying) but certainly has potential to be a robust smoke. Any ideas of the optimal length of time a Cohiba Robustos should be locked up?
joeruby Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Really impressed with Coros, smoked a few, LUM SEP 13 and ARG MAY 14. A couple months ago I tried a Siglo VI, ARG JUN 14. Wow knocked my socks off.. The best cigar I've had? I'd say yes.. The Coros have been consistently great but can't wait to try another Siglo VI. You do get what you pay for.
Trevor2118 Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 JohnS & I sat down to a 2006 Cohiba Robusto and a 2006 Cohiba Siglo VI the other day. We both thought they were great cigars but that the Robusto was (marginally) better. John gifted me a 2014 Siglo VI, so that I can compare the 2006 against the 2014. I'm assuming age will win.

Yes, the Robusto was marginally better, some nice spice, especially through the nose. The Siglo VI was milder and buttery in comparison. I agree, I think it'd be better than a young Siglo VI.
Moogypug Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 I love both but lean slightly toward a CoRo. It's the perfect size for me on most days. The last few years have been great. I will need to restock soon as soon as Rob gets some crackers in like last year.
HavanaSunday Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 I think what most here would agree to is that picking a winner is really personal preference. But the best part is between the two you cant pick a loser.
