FLB03TT Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Just finished my 1st Siglo VI, a hand picked stick from Rob's recent 12 Sampler. It was SUPERB, start to nub. Medium to medium full in body, complex, balanced- just a flat great cigar. Have smoked plenty of Siglo IV and II. Both are fantastic, dependable, classy smokes but the Siglo VI transcends those, across the board. Have a box of the legendary, at least by recent popular demand, El Laguito Cohiba Robusto MUO MAY 14 resting. The other COROs I've had have not been hand picked and while good, have not changed my life. So here's the essence of my question, particularly for those who have sampled the above code CORO, Between a great CORO and a great Siglo VI- which is the winner? 1
terrantheman Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I have had some amazing sig 6's. But CoRo's are great just not the size of the sig 6.
CaptainQuintero Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 From my experience the linea classica needs significantly more time to reach their best compared to the Siglo line. But when both are at their best they can be equally great. Recent production again seems to be challenging this though
cpmurrin Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 It seemed like a couple of years ago the robustos were better but now and for the last year or two, I would say the sig v1's have it
Orion21 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 This is such a subjective assessment. My experience has been that CoRo and Sig VI with nice wrappers with a silky sheen smoke much better than those which don't. Beyond that my personal favorite is the Siglo VI. I love Robustos, but I get much more pleasure out of a great Epi 2, BRC or PSD4 because they don't need 5-7 years to become great.
TypicalSituation Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Having never smoked either, can someone explain the flavor difference in the 2??
KRunch61 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Love 'em both, but gimme a VI over the CoRo any day.
sw15825 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I like both but if I have to pick one it would be Coro.
KJND Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 VI all day... Good smoking Robo's that require less aging trumps it. A well aged CoRo is a treat but a good VI is plain hard to beat.
stunod Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Close, but the best cigar I ever had was an aged CORO.
FLB03TT Posted April 2, 2015 Author Posted April 2, 2015 Anybody have one of the MUO MAY 14 COROs yet? 1
sw15825 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Anybody have one of MUO MAY 14 COROs yet? A few. Very nice cigar. In a couple more years they will be outstanding imo. Well they are allready but even more so. I have buried the cab so they are not too easy to get at.
danny Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Anybody have one of the MUO MAY 14 COROs yet? I bought a couple of boxes before the review so was pleasantly surprised. I also smoked it before that as well and was pleasantly surprised. It was the best CoRo I've had other than one that was about 10 years old, and this was from the worse box of the two. Excellent. 1
coronacigar Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 In my opinon, it depends on the year these were rolled. My personal taste (which is subjective) I would much prefer a 2013 BTO CoRo to 2014 MUO CoRo... I just think the overall quality of the tobacco was much more consistent in 2013. IMO 2013 is one of finest tobacco rolled across the board in years. If I were to choose a 2013 box that would be CoRo or Siglo VI or Esplendidos For 2008-09 Siglo IV's are excellent, I love them from that time period Just my 2 cents
Orion21 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 2013 BTO Siglo VI in 25's having been outstanding. I think mine are August. For some reason I've had great luck with summer box codes.
Laxman Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 As of right night for me the MUO 14's and a few other codes for 14 have been magnificent. I have yet to smoke a Sig 6 from 2014 that I highly enjoyed. Go back a year and BTO CORO's where excellent but I would take a BTO Sig 6 any day over it. Both great cigars but with 5 to 10 years of age I would go CORO hands down.
dflan82 Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I have had both Siglo IV and CoRo from 2013. The Siglo IV (BRS AGO 13) was not very enjoyable with only hints of greatness in parts of the cigar and a strong nicotine hit. Tells me that these babies need some more rest. The CoRo's (APU NOV 13) have been pretty damn good, exhibiting the classic flavors of Cohiba that are described on this forum and others. Hard to not reach for these, so I would have to give the knod to the CoRo at this point.
rmill3r Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 So far...the only Cohiba I've had has been a box of CORO (PSM ABR 13). They were a blind buy. One of them was pretty underwhelming, verging on actually being a little gross, and the other--while not mind-altering--was pretty damn great. As of now, I'm not understanding how the price hike with Cohibas is worth it :/
