Construction

Just slightly soft to the touch but overall beautiful cigar. The wrapper is a nice medium shade of brown with just a small tint of deep red. Very solid wrapper construction with virtually no veins of significant size. The cap was well placed and tripled of course.

Pre-light

Just a wonderful draw, I was slightly worried about a loose draw after finding the cigar to be slightly soft, but no problems here. As a matter of fact I was so concerned with the draw that I started with a punch, but soon replaced it with a clean snip after my concerns were put to bed. Wonderful notes of cedar, cocoa, and roasted tobacco hit the palate on the cold draw, and I must admit I was very excited to light this bad boy up.

During the initial start of this cigar the palate is hit with bold spicy notes surrounded with cedar, leather, and earth. There are hints of cocoa but not near as much as during the cold draw. So far this is a stellar cigar, and one that I would enjoy as an easy morning smoke with some coffee. As a matter of fact, it is morning, and I do have coffee haha. I must confess it’s a relief to smoke this cigar. As of late, I’ve had some issues with some of the various CC’s I’ve been smoking. This cigar is definitely not one of them and it is a joy to smoke, I’m having a hard time not smoking this little guy too fast. The burn has been pretty much dead even from the start and although I wouldn’t call it razor sharp it is definitely burning very well! First third lasted 30 min.

Overall this cigar is mild to medium in body. The spiciness has pretty much gone away and you are left with very simple notes of cedar, leather, and earth. This cigar is a very easy and enjoyable smoke in a great size. The burn has gone a little wonky, but it seems to fix itself for the most part; one touch up was needed. Toasted tobacco is also a very forward flavor during this second third. Well the ash finally fell for the first time just about half way through the second third. There is just a slight wrapper imperfection coming to light as I make my way through the second third. It is just slightly coming undone but I don’t think (or hope) that it will affect much. The notes of cedar and wood are coming forward almost like a combination of fall smells during the changing of seasons. This seems like a very rustic cigar without the normal Cuban barnyard or hay profile. I don’t mean that it is rustic as in hard around the edges or rough, but instead just very earthy, a cigar that would be more like a cabin in the woods than a flat in the city if that makes any sense. The second third took about 35 minutes to get through.

As I break into the last third of this cigar I would peg the body at consistently medium. The spicy flavor profile of the first third hasn’t revealed itself since that initial third. The notes of earth, leather, and tobacco have stayed very consistent and remained mostly unchanged. A small bit of heat and spice returned to the cigar but disappeared quickly and was replaced by more earth, warmth, leather, and toasted tobacco coated with cream. Towards the very end of the last third the heat and nicotine is picking up some. The wind is also been picking up outside while I’m smoking and caused the cigar to go out a couple times. These re-lights could be the causation of the harshness that is coming into play. Still when I give the cigar a moment to settle, the notes of earth, soil, leather, and roasted tobacco come back to the front of the palate and continue to make this cigar very enjoyable.

Overall

This was a great cigar. The total time spent smoking was right at 1 hr. 55 minutes. The construction on this cigar was pretty good. There were some small burn issues and the wrapper did start to come apart half way through the second third, but this didn’t effect much with the cigar itself. The overall notes were leather, earth, toasted tobacco and a small amount of spicy during the beginning and last third. The body of this cigar was right in the middle of medium. Great stick and I’d love to have these on hand all the time.

Well it's an iconic cigar now! Seth, I admire how slowly you took your time to smoke this. I would say it enhanced your enjoyment of it. Thanks again for the review. I loook forward to the next one!
