teamrandr Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Just wondering what features you appreciate, or any new ideas? Any input is greatly appreciated.
Ryan Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Easy to clean. Flat stirrups/holders. That is, not slanting in or out, just flat. The stirrup/holder should be at least 1 inch long, so placing a double corona down isn't like playing a game of jenga. Deep enough and wide enough bowl to hold the ash from at least 1 double corona without getting ash on the unsmoked part of the cigar. 2 holders minimum, 4 good. 5 or more, too many. This is the same as the one I use most often. About 7-8 years now, still perfect. It's about 7-8 inches wide. 1
RijkdeGooier Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Same here, I have a penchant for the Habanos series. Currently use these most: and this: 1
SmittyinAZ Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I like slightly larger trays. If the fella's are down in the bar with me, nice to be able to have a few sticks resting if needed with out congestion.
CoCigarSmoker Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Where do you guys find the habanos ashtrays? I need a new one! Seth
SmittyinAZ Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Check Ebay or Amazon bro. You can get Cohiba, Monte, Upmann, etc.
CoCigarSmoker Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Aren't there a lot of fakes out there, or is that not much of a concern with just ashtrays? I see a lot of variance with prices? Some are 20$ some are 200$... Either way I want one. Seth
iGrizz Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I purchased one off of eBay. It's obviously a fake but for $30 and the fact it looks legit and it's an ashtray means real or not it does its job just as well as the real deal. This is from an eBay listing up right now. I bought one like this. 1
SmittyinAZ Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 As long as the gar you are ashing in it is legit.........
Variant2 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I'm a big fan of the Stinky ashtrays. Built well, flat stirrups, easy to clean, and deep basin to keep the ashes in during the windy days. 1
DWC Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I guess its just me and a bit of OCD but I hate a big pile of ashes in an ashtray while I'm smoking. (Same goes for dead soldiers too.) I use them just as a holder and ash somewhere else, so holding capacity is not an issue for me.
teamrandr Posted March 26, 2015 Author Posted March 26, 2015 Thanks guys your replies are very helpful and much appreciated. This site rocks!
Hunter1974 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I'm a big fan of the Stinky ashtrays. Built well, flat stirrups, easy to clean, and deep basin to keep the ashes in during the windy days. X 2 I have this one and a bigger one

Elvis Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I think the 8" round marble ashtrays from Hotel Nacional in Havana are the coolest thing ever. http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=115498 The round black and white ones are my favorite. One day.... For day to day use the Stinky ashtrays look great and are very functional. I think I must have about 4 of them in various locations.

X3 on the Stinky. Love the large volume. Mine sits outside, where I smoke, and it can go 2 weeks without emptying. Don't mind a mound of nubs, ash and bands- they remind me of good times had!

Elvis Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I can never find those ashtrays for sale anywhere. I hear they're for sale in the lobby of the Hotel Nacional ;-) Given how heavy they are I don't think anyone is going to go through the trouble of lugging one back and not keep it for themselves. If you were referring to the Stinky's, I got mine from Cigarmony before Mark Neff moved on to humidity beads. You can still find them here at http://www.stinkycigar.com. They also have a "Herf Edition" -- 17-inch Diameter w/ 8 stirrups. Almost a 3 gallon capacity...
