I smoke cigars because weed makes me paranoid.

Because if I ate chocolate, fruits, nuts, caramel, cotton candy, popcorn and all else for 1-3 hours straight a couple times a day it would be much less healthy than enjoying all that in my cigar. Plu

It's one of the rare fun things to do that's not immoral or fattening

I second that motion.. oh ya and stupid. I almost forgot.

I smoke because it is something I truly enjoy, it's a quality of life experience. When I 'm alone and smoking, it's a peaceful quiet almost Zen like experience. I love experiencing a great cigar and all it nuances. If spending time with friends enjoying a smoke, it's quality time with someone I enjoy spending time with, chatting, reflecting, questioning life, God, current events, or just plain smiling.

Hard to put in words for me but does good for the mind and soul. Stopped smoking cigs in the early 90's. Tried a gar for the heck of it one day and realized how much better tabacco tasted when cared for, not inhaled and not chemical enhanced/processed.

Addicting yes, but not in the manner to which I need one to get my 'fix' on.

AND it turns you into a satanic, seditious Communist with hairy palms, loose morals, no ability to love and I think it still causes AIDS, right?

My family does have a long tradition of Communism. Maybe that is the real reason I smoke Cuban cigars, to support the revolution!

And as far as this guy goes, we keep him hanging on the front door to keep the pamphlet passers away.

It's a folly I suppose, but it's one that is relaxing, enjoyable and makes me happy.

Someone could say its stupid to paint pictures because you get a better picture from a digital camera and faster. If someone has that mind set you're not going to be able to change it.

Sometimes I just say it keeps the mosquitos away and leave it at that :)

Nice! More than once, when confronted with anti-Leftist-government chatter on cigar forums, I've asked the people throwing hate whether they realized that by buying Havanas, they were supporting an openly Socialist government who had ideological leanings towards Communism. Shuts 'em up, every time!

The devil face is a nice touch. We merely have a No Soliciting sign (which, in the US, means "door-to-door selling of products or services" and not "lawyering"). I've only had one door-knocker come by with some pamphlets and some book since it went up. They tried to explain they weren't selling anything and I convinced them they were trying to sell me their world view and feelings regarding religion. I've seen them on our street since, but they haven't stopped by our house!

because i find it to be a relaxing, enjoyable and social exercise that provides a much needed break to my day or cap to my evening.

most importantly, BECAUSE I CAN DAMMIT

I smoke cigars because cigarettes stink!

Cause God gave me sense of taste to appreciate finer things in life

Music

"A good Cuban cigar closes the door to the vulgarities of the world." Franz Liszt

Reading

"The most futile and disastrous day seems well spent when it is reviewed through the blue, fragrant smoke of a Havana Cigar." Evelyn Waugh

I listen to my doctor

"Remember, commander, no cigars before launch." a Cuban doctor's orders to an astronaut at Cape Canaveral

And

"No cigar-smoker ever committed suicide."

—William Maginn, Irish writer

It is funny how most anti-tobacco types are also pro marijuana. When confronted with the evils of cigar smoke, it is interesting to ask them about the evils of pot smoke.

So I can put up with all the morons that never should have been given a driver's licence in the first place.

Hey I resemble that......

They're tasty and it's like a small journey. I mean it's my quiet time. And I like it that way.

sounds like the person you were talking to had ready judged the situation and made up their mind before they asked the question.

I smoke to relax (when alone) and for fellowship (when smoking with others). Also a level of self-satisfaction as my palate developes and I'm able to better discern the nuances of different marcas.

I smoke for all the reasons above and because:

+ drinking for 1 1/2 - 2 hrs on my own usually ends in trouble.

+ I'm not a sports-star, celeb, or musio and nor do I have the cash to try hard drugs. Though I do fancy the idea of heroin in my 90's.

+ when filling out those forms that ask if you smoke, Yes or No. I love to tick Yes and write a page on the virtues of cigars over those filthy and chemically ridden cigarettes.

+ in this dull little street where I live with its dull little people, I like to sit out front and blow smoke at em.
