moryc Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Is there a difference between Monte Petit Tubos and Monte No 4 when it comes to the blend, quality or the fermentation or is the Petit Tubo a Monte 4 in a tube. I had plenty of Monte 4s but only a couple of the Petit Tubos. The Tubos that I had seemed to be better quality but than again the Monte 4 quality is all over the place so its hard to base it on that. The reason why I asked about the fermentation is that I had a local store owner tell me that it is a different fermentation process and it seems a bit odd to me. Thanks!
Colt45 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 The reason why I asked about the fermentation is that I had a local store owner tell me that it is a different fermentation process and it seems a bit odd to me. I don't know, but that would entail intentionally processing ( "first quality" ? ) tobacco in different ways... This might be a little help: Link
stunod Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I think it's the same cigar, but the quality in the tube seems better. Maybe because I don't like box press and the tubes are nice and round.
Smallclub Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Same cigar without the box press. I'm not sure of that. Every time I have tried the Petit Tubos, and the Tubos as well, I have found very poor cigars - poorly blended, systematically slightly under filled, dressed in poor wrappers. I remember having found the taste "dusty". btw, both the petit tubos and the tubos have been regularly trashed in french cigar magazines. The Bolivar No.2 A/T has the same issue – to some extent. It doesn't offert the intensity of the pc, in dress box or cabinet. Is it he blend? Is it the tube? Is it the selection at the factory? I strongly believe that no one can bring a definitive answer. I guess it will be still discussed on cigar forums in 2050…
